When the OSPIHM Governing Board convened for its Annual Meeting in September 2025, the momentum of our July gathering was carried forward. Centered in prayer and contemplative sharing, the Board reflected on Sue Weber’s summary and joyfully explored new possibilities for collaboration. The Spirit was clearly at work as energy and excitement grew.
From this sacred space, three inspiring initiatives emerged, each supported by a dedicated planning committee:
- Continuing our Prayer Together – nurturing our shared spiritual life
- Developing a Pilgrimage – visiting one another’s foundation homes to share our histories and honor the holy
- Producing a Documentary – telling our shared story and boldly proclaiming that our mission is very much alive
In addition, Communication and Technology committees were formed to support and strengthen the work of these planning groups, ensuring connection, creativity, and collaboration every step of the way.
Together, we step forward—grateful, hopeful, and eager for what God is unfolding among us.
Committee Charters
Each subcommittee of the OSPIHM Initiatives Committee has a defined Charter, stating the subcommittees purpose, guiding principles, focus, membership, and timeline scope. This Charter acts as a framework for reporting back to the main Committee the work it has achieved since the last reporting.
Purpose and Vision
The Communications Committee will ensure that the story and spirit of OSP/IHM are shared widely, clearly, and creatively—across our congregations and with the wider community. Through consistent messaging and engaging communication, this committee will “get the word out” about all OSP/IHM initiatives and sustain enthusiasm and participation throughout the journey.
The committee’s work will reflect our Charism of unity and hope, helping sisters, associates, and partners stay informed, inspired, and connected.
Guiding Principles
- Transparency and Consistency: Clear, timely, and unified messaging across congregations.
- Inclusivity: Communication that reaches all sisters and associates, regardless of location or access.
- Creativity: Use of video, imagery, and storytelling to express our evolving mission.
- Engagement: Encourage participation and feedback through ongoing updates and invitations.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the Technology Committee to ensure smooth digital communication and shared tools.

Purpose and Vision
The OSP/IHM Documentary Committee will guide and support the creation of a documentary that captures and celebrates the living story of the OSP/IHM congregations—past, present, and emerging. This documentary will make real the “dreaming” that has inspired our journey, revealing how our shared Charism continues to unfold in abundance and vitality.
More than a historical record, this project will reframe the narrative of religious life from one of diminishment to one of transformation, connection, and hope. The documentary will invite audiences both within and beyond religious life to see how the spirit of OSP/IHM continues to shape lives, ministries, and communities today.
Guiding Principles
The work of this committee will be grounded in:
- Trust in Divine Providence and faithfulness to our founding vision.
- Connection between past and present, showing how our origins continue to inspire our
evolving mission. - Inclusivity and participation, ensuring that sisters are not just spectators, but
active voices and storytellers. - Honesty and learning,
reflecting on what we have discovered through our shared experiences. - Accessibility and relevance, answering the question: “What does this have to do
with me?” for viewers beyond religious life. - Historical and theological depth, situating our story within the broader context of
Church and religious life.
Tangible Focus
The documentary will:
- Begin with the OSP/IHM story, launching in July
2025. - Highlight three cornerstone ministries—Anti-Racism, the Border Ministry, and Haiti—while also exploring new and emerging initiatives that express our ongoing commitment to justice and compassion.
- Trace the historical and spiritual roots of these efforts, connecting them to our founding vision and to one another.
- Feature the geographic breadth of our ministries and the global reach of our Charism.
- Draw inspiration from works like Living in the Future’s Past to frame our story within the broader context of care for creation and communal transformation.

Purpose and Vision
The OSP/IHM Pilgrimage Committee will design and guide a shared journey that reconnects us with the sacred places, people, and stories that shaped our OSP/IHM heritage. The pilgrimage will be an experience of “living our memory”—a journey to our spiritual roots that deepens our understanding of who we are and renews our sense of unity and mission. In the spirit of Francis’ pilgrimage of hope, this endeavor will help us tell our shared story, strengthen relationships, and rekindle the bonds that unite our “family” across congregations. The pilgrimage is envisioned not only as a physical journey, but also as an adventure of faith—one that can be shared broadly through storytelling, media, and prayer.
Guiding Principles
The pilgrimage experience will be shaped by:
- Authenticity and simplicity, creating a natural, heartfelt experience rather than
an overly produced event. - Shared participation,
ensuring that the insights and experiences of the pilgrims are made
accessible to all sisters and associates. - Integration of prayer and reflection, following a retreat model that nurtures
spiritual depth along the way. - Intergenerational inclusion, especially encouraging younger sisters to
participate as travelers and storytellers. - Documentation and learning, capturing the planning and implementation process so
future pilgrimages can build upon the experience. - Collaboration across congregations, honoring the full scope of our shared heritage and
community relationships.
Tangible Expression
The initial pilgrimage will:
- Begin with a journey to Baltimore, tracing the
earliest roots of the OSP/IHM story and serving as a model for future
congregational pilgrimages. - Include a two-day experience combining
historical visits, prayer, storytelling, and reflection. - Involve approximately six pilgrims and three
support team members (for technology, prayer leadership, and logistics
management). - Explore the possibility of including a Mary Lange
actor for a welcoming segment or reflection. - Invite participation from our partners and friends,
including the Grey Nuns, to deepen shared understanding and
connection.
Steps to Move Forward
- Planning and Coordination
- Determine tentative dates for the pilgrimage (Fall
2026 or Spring 2027). - Establish contacts with the Grey Nuns and key
collaborators (e.g., Rachelle). - Identify pilgrimage sites, prayer leaders,
storytellers, and logistics coordinators.

Prayer lies at the core of who we are as women religious—it sustains our hope, strengthens our solidarity, and draws us into compassionate engagement with the world. Through this initiative, we seek to create spaces where prayer not only unites us with one another but also connects us with the needs, joys, and sufferings of the broader world.

Purpose and Vision
The Technology Committee will provide the essential technical infrastructure, expertise, and support needed to bring the OSP/IHM collaborative initiatives—Prayer, Pilgrimage, and Documentary—to life. This committee’s work ensures equal access, reliability, and connection across all four congregations. By fostering a shared “culture of technology,” the committee will help every sister and associate fully participate in the unfolding story of OSP/IHM through virtual gatherings, digital media, and online collaboration.
The committee’s vision is to create user-friendly, inclusive, and sustainable systems that connect us through faith, story, and shared mission.
Guiding Principles
