Sister Mary Shaun Conroy died in Camilla Hall on August 17, 2022 in the 69th year of her religious life.
Sister Mary Shaun was born on November 8, 1924 in New York, NY. Sister’s parents John and Catherine (Grennon) Conroy raised their family of three children in St. Joseph Parish in Garden City, NY. Sister attended Roslyn Heights Grammar School (1930-1938) and Roslyn High School (1938-1942). Later while in Community, Sister earned degrees from Immaculata and Villanova Universities.
Mary Conroy entered our IHM Community on February 11, 1954. She received her religious habit and name, Sister Mary Shaun, on August 16, 1954. Sister Mary Shaun pronounced her First Vows on August 15, 1956.
Sister Mary Shaun’s teaching ministry extended from the fall of 1956 through February 1984. Sister taught children in a variety of parishes. In the Archdiocese of Philadelphia area, Sister taught at Incarnation, St. Joseph Collingdale, St. John of the Cross Roslyn, St. Clement, Immaculate Conception, St. William, Our Lady of Fatima Secane, and Our Lady of Grace. Outside of the Philadelphia area, Sister served students at Holy Trinity Morrisville, Marian High School Coaldale, and St. Pius X Norfolk.
In February 1984, Sister served our Sisters in Camilla Hall and in August 2008, Sister became an integral part of the Apostolate of Prayer Community and rendered service at every opportunity until her death at the marvelous age of 98. May her beautiful soul rest in peace.
In addition to her IHM Community, Sister is survived by her many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Sister’s parents John and Katherine Conroy, her sister Catherine Moller and her brother John Conroy, Jr. predecease Sister Mary Shaun.
