Sister M. Patricia Ann Wolfe, formerly Sister Mark Marie, died in Camilla Hall on October 26, 2023, in the 71st year of her religious life.
Patricia Ann Wolfe was born on March 6, 1934. Her parents Mark Wolfe and Nora Mae (McFeeley) Wolfe ultimately settled in St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Harrisburg, PA.
Pat attended Woodward Elementary in Philadelphia (1940-1943), St. Francis of Assisi in Harrisburg, and Harrisburg Catholic (1948 – 1952), later known as Bishop McDevitt High School. Later, while in Community, Pat earned her degree in Elementary Education from Immaculata College.
Pat entered the Congregation on September 8, 1952; she received her habit and her religious name, Sister Mark Marie, on March 9, 1953; and she professed First Vows on March 9, 1955.
Shortly after pronouncing her First Vows, Sister Mark Marie worked with the blind children at St. Francis de Sales school in Philadelphia. Sister served these children and their families through the school year ending in 1960.
From the fall of 1960 through the school year ending in 1971, Sister Mark taught 8th graders at Sacred Heart in Lancaster, St. Matthew in Philadelphia, Epiphany in Miami, a return trip to Sacred Heart in Lancaster, then to St. Pius X in Broomall. During the 1971-1972 school year, Sister returned to teaching 6th , 7th, and 8th grade blind children at St. Lucy School for the Blind in Philadelphia.
From the fall of 1972 through the school year ending in 1996, Sister taught 8th grade students at St. Louis in Yeadon, St. Patrick in York, Holy Family in Harrisburg, and St. Joseph in Downingtown.
Bringing with her all her experience as an 8th grade teacher, Sister Patricia offered her expertise as a General Assistant at St. Martin of Tours school in Philadelphia for the next 21 years.
At the tender age of 83 Sister Pat joined the Apostolate of Prayer and Service community at Camilla Hall. Sister served faithfully and prayerfully until her death on October 26, 2023.
In addition to her IHM Community, Sister is survived by her many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. Sister is predeceased by her parents Mark R. Wolfe and Nora (McFeeley) Wolfe and her brother Mark R. Wolfe, Jr. (Anna) and William F. Wolfe (Mary Lou).
Reverend Michael Callaghan, CM celebrated Sister Patricia’s Funeral Mass on Thursday, November 2, 2023, at 10:30 a.m.
