Sister M. Kathleen Theresa Maguire, IHM

Sister M. Kathleen Theresa Maguire (formerly Sister M. Kathleen Immaculate) died in Camilla Hall on August 17, 2021 in the 65th year of her religious life.

Kathleen was born on November 16, 1938.  Her parents John and Rose (Gillespie) Maguire raised their family of four girls and one boy in St. Augustine Parish in Phoenixville, PA.

Kathleen graduated from St. Augustine Elementary School in 1952 and from West Catholic 1956.  Later, while in the Community, Kathleen graduated from Immaculata College.

Kathleen entered the Congregation on February 11, 1957.  She received her habit and her religious name, Sister Kathleen Immaculate, on August 15, 1957.  Sister Kathleen pronounced her First Vows on August 17, 1959.

From the fall of 1959 through December 1996, Sister Kathleen taught grade school children in Our Lady of Fatima in Secane; St. Cecilia in Coatesville; St. Joseph in Collingdale; St. Patrick in Norristown; Sever Dolors in Wyndmoor; St. Piux X in Norfolk; and Our Lady of Grace in Penndel; St. Veronica, St. Edmond, St. Joan of Arc, and St. Matthew in Philadelphia.

In January 1995, Sister Kathleen transitioned from classroom teaching to serving as a Pastoral Minister.  Sister brought her loving pastoral skills to Incarnation Parish in Trenton; St. Mary Manor in Lansdale; Suburban Hospital in Norristown; and St. David Parish in Willow Grove.

Sister Kathleen entered Camilla Hall in July 2018 where she continued her prayerful ministry and service until her death on August 17, 2021.  May her beautiful soul rest in peace.

Sister Kathleen is predeceased by her parents John Patrick Maguire and Rose Maguire; her sisters Gertrude Maguire (Connor), Roseanne Maguire (Guiliano), Sister Marie Maguire, IHM (Sister John Immaculate) and her brother John Francis Maguire.  Sister is survived by her IHM Community, her many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.

Reverend Michael Costa celebrated Sister’s Funeral Mass and delivered the homily on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at 10:30 AM.
