S. Marie Geraldine Timlin IHM

Sister Marie Geraldine Timlin died in Paoli Hospital on February 5, 2024, in the 57th year of her religious profession.

“Gerry” was born on December 14, 1947. Sister’s parents Gerard and Marie (Hogan) Timlin raised their family of ten children in Most Blessed Sacrament Parish in Philadelphia. Gerry attended Most Blessed Sacrament Elementary School (1953-1961), West Catholic Girls’ High School (1961-1965), and later while in Community, she earned a degree in Theology from Immaculata College, and later earned an MA degree from Notre Dame Institute in Arlington, VA in Religious Education.

Geraldine entered the Congregation on September 8, 1965; she received her religious habit and name, Sister Marie Geraldine, on June 27, 1966, and pronounced her First Vows on June 28, 1968.

Sister Geraldine had a beautiful and gentle manner with young children. From the fall of 1968 through the school year ending in 1999 Sister touched and taught the hearts of many little ones in first grade. Sister Geraldine served children and families in Villa Maria Academy Malvern, Villa Maria Academy in Lynchburg, VA, St. Eugene Primos, SS. Simon & Jude Westtown, Our Lady of Fatima Secane, St. Stephen Port Carbon, St. Bartholomew E. Brunswick NJ, St. Dorothy Drexel Hill, and BVM Darby.

In the fall of 1999, Sister Geraldine taught third grade children at Incarnation School through June 2006 and served as local superior of the convent. From the fall of 2006 through the school year ending 2008, Sister taught fifth grade children at Assumption School in Feasterville before moving to St. Matthew School in the fall of 2008 where she tutored children through the school year ending in 2011.

Sister Geraldine began a different kind of ministry in August 2011 when she became an integral part of the Prayer and Service Community at Camilla Hall. Sister Geraldine’s gentleness, prayerfulness, kindness and humility strengthened and encouraged her fellow IHM Sisters.

Sister is survived by her IHM Community, her local Community at Camilla Hall, her sisters Helene McEnhill, Kathleen Wyant (Russ), her brother Brian (Maryann), her sisters-in-law Maureen, Mary, Wendy, and Kim, her brother-in-law Sam and her many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.

Sister Geraldine is predeceased by her parents Gerard Timlin and Marie (Hogan) Timlin, her brothers Joseph, Edward, and Gerard, and her sisters Marie (Allen) and Margaret (Allen) and her brothers-in-law Robert and Dan.

Reverend John Burger, SCC (Homilist) concelebrated Sister Geraldine’s Funeral Mass on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. with Reverend Joseph McLaughlin, O.Praem.
