OSP IHM Healing Racism Committee

Goal and Purpose: In response to a growing realization of the painful and destructive experience of racism in our Congregations’ histories, a committee of sisters from each Congregation will  focus on ways in which we can better understand and acknowledge our experience of racism while creating a culture of forgiveness, respect, healing, and reverence for diversity in all people.

Timeline:  The healing racism committee started after the 150th celebration (1996) in Monroe, MI, when the Oblates and IHM Congregations were reunited.  The committee meets twice a year and more often when working on a project.  The committee reports to the OSP IHM Leadership Board.
