Goal and Purpose: The IHM Social Justice Committee’s first goal is the education of our Sisters on the Principles of Catholic Social Teaching Secondly, it offers opportunities for advocacy regarding different issues that flow from these principles and thirdly, it raises awareness to pray for different issues. For the last two years, we have been united with the LCWR and focusing on the intersection of racism, immigration and climate change.

Timeline: The committee started in the early 2000s. Sr. Rosemary Davis was its founder. It was a response to a chapter mandate. The committee meets 3 times a year and more often when planning an event or preparing materials.
