Sister M. Eileen Dugan, IHM

Sister M. Eileen Dugan (formerly Sister Grace Maureen) died on March 5, 2026 in Camilla Hall.  Sister Eileen was born on August 24, 1930, originally from St. Carthage Parish. Charles Faul and her mother Grace (Dugan) Faul eventually became members of St. Laurence Parish in Upper Darby, the parish from which Eileen entered the Congregation.

Eileen attended St. Carthage Elementary School and Upper Darby Senior High School graduating in 1945. After graduating from high school, Eileen worked for several years. Eileen entered the Congregation on September 8, 1955, she received her habit and her religious name, Sister Grace Maureen, on March 8, 1956, and professed First Vows on August 15, 1957.

Throughout Sister’s teaching ministry, she taught children in grades 1, 2, 5, and 6. Sister served primarily in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia teaching children at Holy Name in Philadelphia, St. Anastasia in Newtown Square, Sacred Heart in Manoa, St. Pius X in Broomall, St. Matthew in Philadelphia, St. Laurence in Upper Darby, and St. Joachim in Philadelphia. Sister also taught in the Diocese of Harrisburg at St. Ignatius School in Centralia and in the Diocese of Richmond at Star of the Sea School in Virginia Beach.

Sister Eileen stepped away from full-time teaching at the end of the 1999 school year to render service in a host of other ways. Sister was a permanent substitute teacher at St. Joachim (4 years); a substitute and tutor at Holy Innocents (1 year); an office assistant at Holy Name (1 year); an office assistant at St. Matthew (9 years) and a tutor (8 years) at St. Laurence.

In March 2022 Sister Eileen transitioned to Camilla Hall where her full-time ministry was the Apostolate of Prayer and Presence to her Sisters.

Sister is survived by her IHM Community, her cousin Susan Maciolek, and other cousins.

Sister Eileen was predeceased by her parents Charles Faul and Grace (Dugan) Faul and her stepbrother, Reverend Charles Faul.

Sister M. Eileen Dugan’s Funeral Liturgy was celebrated on Thursday, March 12, 2026. Reverend Francis Chambers, OSA was the celebrant and homilist.
