Sister Anita Dolores Malloy, IHM died in Camilla Hall on, Wednesday, October 6, 2021 in the 74th year of her religious life just shy of her 92nd birthday. Margaret C. Malloy was born on October 11, 1929 in McAdoo, Pennsylvania. Sister’s dear parents, Patrick and Margaret (Sherkness) Malloy raised their family of five children in St. Patrick Parish in Shenandoah, Pennsylvania.
Margaret attended St. Patrick Elementary School from 1935 through 1943; she then went to McAdoo High School from where she graduated in June 1947. Margaret entered the Congregation the following February on February 2, 1948. While in Community, she earned her degree from Immaculata College.
Margaret C. Malloy received her habit and her religious name, Sister Anita Dolores, on August 16, 1948. Sister Anita pronounced her First Vows on August 15, 1950 and her Final Vows on August 15, 1953.
Beginning in the fall of 1950 through the school year ending 2004, Sister Anita taught children in all grades 1-8 throughout the span of her teaching ministry. From August 1976 through August 1986 Sister served as Director of Religious Education, then resumed classroom teaching.
Sister served children and families in the following parishes: St. Nicholas, Weatherly; St. Agnes, West Chester; St. Francis de Sales Philadelphia; St. Ignatius, Centralia; Villa Maria Lower School, Malvern; St. Matthew, St. Dominic, St. Francis Xavier in Philadelphia; St. Cyril, East Lansdowne; Our Lady of Ransom, Philadelphia; St. David, Willow Grove; and St. Anastasia, Newtown Square; St. Joseph, Collingdale; Queen of Peace, Col Township; St. Philomena, Lansdowne; and St. Lucy School for Blind Children.
In the fall of 2004, Sister Anita received a transfer to serve the Motherhouse Community at Villa Maria House of Studies. Sister worked diligently as the Chapel Caretaker through August 2009. From this point through 2015, Sister assisted in the Mission Advancement Office.
Sister Anita received one final assignment. Sister served in the Camilla Hall Community as an active member the Apostolate of Prayer, and she graciously assisted wherever needed until her death on October 6, 2021.
In addition to her IHM Community, Sister Anita’s sister Kathleen Maliszewski, nieces, nephew, grandnieces and grandnephews survive her. Patrick Francis Malloy and Margaret Veronica (Sherkness) Malloy, her sisters Patricia Murphy, Anne Wilwohl, Veronica Shearon, and her brother, Charles Malloy predecease Sister Anita.
Rev. Michael Callaghan and Rev. Msgr. John T. Conway (Homilist) celebrated Sister Anita’s Funeral Liturgy on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at 10:30 AM.
