Sister Angele Regina Healy, IHM died on June 6, 2022 in Camilla. Sister was in her 68th year of her religious life.
Helen Louise Healy was born on October 5, 1935 in Philadelphia. Her parents Jeremiah and Helen (LoBosco) Healy raised their family of six children in St. Monica Parish in Philadelphia. Helen attended St. Monica Elementary (1941-1949), and Hallahan High School (1949-1953). Later while in Community, she earned her degree from Immaculata College in Elementary Education.
Helen entered the Community on February 11, 1954; she received her habit and her religious name, Sister Angele Regina, on August 16, 1954; and pronounced her First Vows on August 15, 1956.
During the course of Sister’s classroom teaching ministry, (the fall of 1956 through the school year ending 1991), Sister taught children in second, fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh grades. Sister served in a variety of parishes in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia: St. Mark, St. Francis Xavier, St. Richard, St. Laurence, St. Gabriel, Our Lady of Ransom, St. Anselm, St. Barnabas, Immaculate Conception, and St. Monica. Sister Angele also taught children at St. Margaret in Reading, St. James in Savannah, and Little Flower in McAdoo.
Sister Angele served as an Office Assistant at Sacred Heart in Philadelphia from August 1991 through August 2004. Sister next served in the Tuition Office at Cardinal O’Hara High School from August 2004 through August 2014.
Sister Angele Regina continued to serve the local community of Camilla Hall where she was a staff member and a member of the Apostolate of Prayer from August 2014 until her death on June 6, 2022.
In addition to her IHM Community, Sister Angele Regina is survived by her many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Sister is predeceased by her parents Jeremiah and Helen (LoBosco) Healy; her sisters Evelyn McManus (Robert), Janet Elder (Clarence), Elizabeth Kane (John), and her brothers Thomas Healy (Patricia) and Gerald Healy.
Reverend John Burger, SSC, and Reverend Michael Callaghan, CM concelebrated Sister’s Funeral Mass on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at 10:30 a.m.
