Sister M. Teresa Volpe, IHM
Formerly Sister Thomas Bernard

Sister M. Teresa Volpe died in Camilla Hall on December 31, 2020 in the 75th year of her religious life.  Sister Teresa died of natural causes.

Teresa V. Volpe was born on November 11, 1923.  Teresa’s parents Michael and Rose (Capelli) Volpe raised their three daughters in St. Edmond Parish in Philadelphia.  Teresa attended St. Edmond Elementary School and West Catholic Girls’ High School in Philadelphia.  Teresa graduated from “West” in 1941.  Later, while in Community, Teresa earned degrees from Immaculata College and Glassboro State.

Teresa entered our Congregation on September 8, 1945.  She received her habit and her religious name Sister M. Thomas Bernard on April 22, 1946.  Sister Thomas pronounced her First Vows on August 15, 1948.

Sister Thomas Bernard’s first assignment in August 1948 was to St. Joseph in Hatboro where she taught grades 1 and 2 for 5 years.  From 1953 through 1969, Sister Thomas served children and families in Runnemede, NJ; West Chester, and East Brunswick. 

In the fall of 1969 until June 1971, Sister served as Superior and Teacher at St. Joseph Convent/School in Athens, Georgia.  Sister next served as Superior and Teacher at Our Lady of Fatima Convent/School in Cornwells Heights until August 1975.

Beginning in August 1975 until August 1990, Sister Teresa Volpe taught 6th grade children in St. John the Baptist in Manayunk; St. Anastasia in Newtown Square; St. John of the Cross, Roslyn, and St. Matthew, Philadelphia.

In the fall of 1990 until August 2007, Sister went to St. Laurence Convent/School where she worked with many, many children in the beautiful arena of Religious Instruction for 17 years.

In August 2007, Sister Teresa went to Camilla Hall where she participated faithfully in the Apostolate of Prayer and Assistance until her death on December 31, 2020.

Sister Teresa is predeceased by her parents Michael and Rose Volpe, and her sisters Sister Miriam Michael Volpe, IHM and Rosemary Ingenito.

During this time of the COVID-19 pandemic, only a relatively limited number of guests participated in the Funeral Mass on Wednesday, January 6, 2021.  Reverend James McGuinn celebrated Sister’s Funeral Mass.

Sister Dolorine Marie Ryan, IHM

Sister Dolorine Marie Ryan died in Camilla Hall on December 27, 2020 in the 69th year of her religious life. Sister Dolorine died of natural causes, her death is not Covid related.

Theresa Anne Ryan was born on October 17, 1932 in Philadelphia. Sister’s parents William and Catherine (Delaney) Ryan raised their family in St. Bernard’s Parish. Theresa attended St. Bernard Elementary School and St. Hubert High School. Theresa graduated from “Hubert’s” in 1951.  Later, while in the Community, Sister earned her degree in Elementary Education from Immaculata College.

Theresa entered the Congregation on September 8, 1951; she received her religious habit and her religious name, Sister Dolorine Marie, on March 10, 1952.  Sister Dolorine pronounced First Vows on March 11, 1954.  Shortly after making First Vows, Sister taught third grade children at St. Joan of Arc in Philadelphia until the end of the 1954 school year.

Throughout Sister Dolorine’s very extensive teaching ministry, she served children in grades three through seven in a myriad of places in the Philadelphia, Shenandoah, Newtown, Virginia, and Connecticut areas.  Sister began her teaching ministry in March 1954 and continued to teach children until the school year ending 1996.  Beginning in August 1996 until August 2012, Sister remained in education but assumed different positions.  Sister served as a general office assistant, primary aide/tutor, and general assistant with school and development activities.

In August 2012, Sister Dolorine served at our Motherhouse at Villa Maria House of Studies until March 2018 where she continued serving in her new role as a member of the Apostolate of Prayer at Camilla Hall.

Sister’s parents William and Catherine (Delaney) Ryan, her brothers Rev. William F. Ryan and John Ryan, and her sister Jane Dietrich predecease Sister.  Many loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and her Congregation of IHM Sisters survive Sister.

During this time of the COVID-19 global pandemic, only a relatively limited number of guests participated in the Funeral Mass on Thursday, December 31, 2020.  Reverend Maurice Avicolli, O.Praem celebrated Sister’s Funeral Mass.

Sister Daniel Marie Liddy, IHM

Sister Daniel Marie Liddy died in Camilla Hall on November 30, 2020 in the 67th year of her religious life. Sister Daniel Marie died of natural causes it is not Covid related.

Therese Liddy was born on November 1, 1934.  Therese’s parents Daniel and Ann (Doyle) Liddy raised their family in Our Lady of the Rosary Parish in Philadelphia.  Therese attended St. Rose of Lima Elementary School and West Catholic High School.  Therese graduated from High School in 1952.  Later, while in the Congregation, Sister earned degrees from Immaculata College and an MA from St. Charles Seminary.

Therese entered the Congregation on September 8, 1953.  On March 8, 1954, Therese received her habit and her religious name Sister Daniel Marie.  Sister Daniel Marie pronounced First Vows on March 10, 1956.  From this point forward, Sister taught elementary grade children in grades 1, 3, 4, 7 and 8 in a variety of places until the school year ending in 1994.

Sister served in St. Joseph Collingdale, Holy Savior Norristown, St. John the Baptist Manayunk, Epiphany Miami, St. Teresa Runnemede, Holy Trinity Morrisville.  Sister Daniel taught in Lima Peru from 1965 through the school year ending 1971.  Sister was both teacher and principal at St. Eleanor School in Collegeville for three years. Sister continued her teaching ministry at St. Ann Phoenixville, St. Joan of Arc Philadelphia, St. Pius X Norfolk, St. Frances Cabrini Fairless Hills and St. Charles Bensalem.

In August 1994, while Sister Daniel Marie was still at St. Charles, she was asked to serve as the Director of Religious Education through August 1995. For the next five years (8-95/8-00), Sister served in the Office at St. Joan of Arc School.  In August 2000, Sister served as Pastoral Minister at Immaculate Conception Parish in Birdsboro while residing at St. Catharine Convent in Reading.

In August 2012, Sister Daniel Marie joined the Camilla Hall Community. Sister was a valued member of the Apostolate of Prayer and service to her Sisters until her death on November 30, 2020.

Sister’s parents Daniel Joseph and Ann (Doyle) Liddy, and her sister Maryann McCloskey predecease Sister.  In addition to her Congregation of IHM Sisters, Sister is survived by her brothers Denis (Joanne), Daniel (Pat) and brother-in-law Bernie and her loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Funeral Mass and Interment were private on Monday, December 7, 2020. Due to this time of the COVID-19 global pandemic, a relatively limited number of guests were present.  Reverend Michael J. Lee, O.Praem, celebrated Sister Daniel Marie’s Funeral Mass.  May she rest in peace.

Sister Clare Maureen Graven, IHM

Sister Clare Maureen Graven died in Camilla Hall on November 30, 2020 in the 69th year of her religious life. Sister Clare’s death is not Covid related.

Julia Theresa Graven was born on September 14, 1932.  Sister’s dear parents Patrick and Julia (Philbin) Graven were born in Ireland; when they came to the United States, they raised their family in St. Gabriel’s Parish in south Philadelphia.  Theresa attended St. Gabriel Elementary School and West Catholic High School; she graduated from “West” in 1950.

Theresa entered the Congregation on September 8, 1951.  On March 10, 1952, Theresa received her Habit and her religious name Sister Clare Maureen.  Sister Clare pronounced her First Vows on March 11, 1954.

From March 1954 through August 1954, Sister Clare assisted at the Catholic Home Bureau.  Beginning in the fall of 1954 through 1971, Sister taught elementary school children at St. Jane in Easton; Incarnation and St. Anselm in Philadelphia.  From the fall of 1971 through August 1983, Sister taught Religion to high school students at St. Maria Goretti, Villa Maria, Archbishop Wood, and Cardinal Dougherty.

In August 1983, Sister Clare served as principal and superior at St. Edmond Parish for three years; in August1986 Sister served as principal and superior at St. John Baptist de la Salle in Reading.  For the next twelve years, Sister Clare taught Religion to students at Archbishop Wood High School.

Sister Clare Maureen’s ministry of service took a turn from teaching.  Sister served in the Tuition Office at Bishop Shanahan High School from August 2001 through August 2015.

Sister Clare Maureen’s final appointment was to the Apostolate of Prayer and Service in Camilla Hall August 2015.  Sister served faithfully until her death on November 30, 2020.

Sister’s parents Patrick and Julia Agnes predecease Sister; so, too do her sisters Margaret and Mary.  In addition to her Congregation of IHM Sisters, Sister is survived by her brother Patrick, and her loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

During this time of the COVID-19 global pandemic, a relatively limited number of guests were permitted to participate in the Funeral Mass on Saturday, December 5, 2020.  Reverend Anthony Costa (homilist) and Reverend Michael J. Lee, O.Praem, concelebrated Sister Clare Maureen’s Funeral Mass.

Sister Clare Immaculate McCrosson, IHM

Sister Clare Immaculate McCrosson died in Paoli Hospital on November 22, 2020 in the 71st year of her religious life. Sister Clare succumbed to the ravages of the Covid 19 virus.  God rest her beautiful soul.

Clare McCrosson was born on January 20, 1926 in Philadelphia. Her dear parents Owen and Theresa Marie (Streit) McCrosson raised their family in St. Michael Parish in Philadelphia. Clare attended St. Michael Elementary School and Hallahan High School from which she graduated in 1944.  Later, while in the Community, Clare earned degrees from Immaculata College and University of Notre Dame.

Clare entered the Congregation on September 8, 1949; she received her habit and her religious name, Sister Clare Immaculate, on April 10, 1950 and she pronounced First Vows on April 13, 1952.

In April 1952 through the school year ending 1956, Sister Clare Immaculate taught children in grades 6, 7, and 8 at St. Anthony School in Philadelphia and Villa Maria Academy in Green Tree.  Then, Sister taught high school students at St. Maria Goretti High School from the school year beginning in 1956 and ending in 1958.  In the fall of 1958, Sister Clare went to Immaculata College to teach until the school year ending 1961. Sister Clare then returned to St. Maria Goretti High School where she remained until January 1963. 

Sister Clare Immaculate was appointed Secretary General of the Congregation in January 1963.  Sister Clare held this position through August 1981.

Sister Clare spent the next six years teaching high school students – five years at Archbishop Wood High School in Warminster and one year at Archbishop Ryan High School in Philadelphia.  From August 1987 to August 2006, Sister Clare Immaculate served as Secretary at the Apostolic Nunciature in Washington, DC.

With very full hands and heart, Sister Clare Immaculate began a different ministry of service from August 2006 until her death on November 22, 2020 – the Apostolate of Prayer within the Camilla Hall Community.

Sister’s parents Owen and Theresa Marie (Streit) McCrosson predecease Sister; so, too do her brothers Fred, Eugene, Joseph and John and her sisters Mary, Teresa, Catherine, Vera, and Joan.  Many loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and her Congregation of IHM Sisters survive Sister Clare.

During this time of the COVID-19 global pandemic, only a relatively limited number of guests participated in the Funeral Mass on Wednesday, December 2, 2020.  Reverend James T. McGuinn celebrated Sister’s Funeral Mass.

Sister Mary Christopher, IHM

Sister Mary Christopher McBride died in Camilla Hall on November 21, 2020 in the 77th year of her religious life. God rest her beautiful soul.

Mary Kathryn McBride was born on February 17, 1924 in Shamokin, PA.  Mary attended St. Joseph Elementary School and St. Joseph/St. Edward High School and graduated in 1941. Later, while in Community, Sister earned degrees from Immaculata College and Villanova University.

Mary Kathryn entered the Community on September 8, 1943; she received her habit and religious name, Sister Mary Christopher, on August 16, 1944.  Sister Mary Christopher pronounced First Vows on August 15, 1946.

Before Sister made her First Vows, she served at Villa Maria Academy in Virginia from the fall of 1945 through 1952 where she taught sixth grade children; in the fall of 1952, Sister taught eighth grade children at St. James in Virginia for one year. Sister remained in the Virginia area and taught sixth and seventh grade students at St. Thomas More School in Arlington from 1953 through the school year ending in 1956.

When Sister Christopher left the Virginia area, she served at Holy Innocents in Philadelphia; St. Agnes in Sellersville; St. Monica, Philadelphia; Allentown Central High School; and Little Flower High School.  In the fall of 1970, Sister returned to the Virginia area where she served as Superior at Villa Maria in Falls Church for the next six years.

In the fall of 1976 through August 2006, Sister Christopher continued her teaching/serving ministry at St. Stephen in Port Carbon; Annunciation in Shenandoah; St. Joseph/St. Robert in Warrington; St. Jerome in Tamaqua; St. Stephen in Port Carbon; and back again to Annunciation in Shenandoah.

Sister Mary Christopher went to her final mission, Camilla Hall, where she continued to serve faithfully in the Apostolate of Prayer until her death on November 21, 2020.

During this time of the COVID-19 global pandemic, only a relatively limited number of guests were permitted to participate in the Funeral Mass on Saturday, November 28, 2020.  Reverend Daniel J. Arechabala was the Celebrant and Homilist for Sister Mary Christopher’s Funeral Mass.  God rest Sister Mary Christopher.

Sister Marie de Lourdes Mates, IHM

Sister Marie de Lourdes Mates, IHM died in Camilla Hall on Thursday, November 19, 2020.  Sister died of natural causes, this death is not Covid related. 

Doris P. Mates was born on December 24, 1931 in Williamstown, PA.  Her dear parents, Richard and Elizabeth (Wolslager) Mates raised their family in St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Harrisburg, PA.  Doris attended Sacred School in Williamstown from 1937-1938 and completed her elementary education at St. Francis of Assisi School in Harrisburg from 1938-1945.  Doris attended Harrisburg Catholic High School in Harrisburg and graduated in 1949.  Doris attended Immaculata College during the 1949-1950 academic year.

Doris entered the Congregation on September 8, 1950; she received her habit and her religious name, Sister Marie de Lourdes on March 26, 1951.  Sister Marie de Lourdes professed her First Vows on April 5, 1953 and from that point forward, Sister served zealously in the apostolate of teaching. 

From April 1953 through June 1962, Sister taught elementary grade children in Most Blessed Sacrament, Our Lady of Fatima, St. Clement, and St. James in Savannah.  In September 1962 through June 1986, Sister taught Math to High School students in Villa Maria Green Tree, I.C. (Mauch Chunk HS), Marian, Hallahan, Bishop McDevitt in Harrisburg, and Lourdes Academy in Miami.  From September 1986 through June 2003, Sister Marie taught Religion to students at Bishop O’Connell in Virginia and St. Hubert High School in Philadelphia.

Sister Marie de Lourdes had the opportunity to be a member of the House of Prayer Community in Nesquehoning.  Sister was part of that Community from August 2003 through August 2008.  When Sister left the House of Prayer, she served as an assistant in the library at Lancaster Catholic High School until August 2010 when she joined the Camilla Hall Community to serve in the Apostolate of Prayer.

Due to strict regulations during this time of the Covid 19 Pandemic, the Funeral Mass was semi private on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 and private interment.  A limited number of family members were present to attend the Funeral Mass.  Reverend Michael J. Gerlach.

Sister Marie de Lourdes’s dear parents Richard and Elizabeth (Wolslager) Mates, her sisters Rosemary Chandler, Catherine Mastradone, and Elizabeth Scarangela, and her brothers Andrew and Richard Mates predecease Sister Marie.

Sister Mary Ann Leahy, IHM
Formerly Sister Anita Miriam

Sister Mary Ann Leahy, IHM died in Camilla Hall on Sunday, October 25, 2020.  Sister died of natural causes, this death is not Covid related.  Sister died in the 70th year of her religious life.

Mary Ann was born on August 25, 1932.  Sister’s parents John and Mary Geraldine (Benjamin) Leahy raised their family in Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in Philadelphia.  Mary Ann attended Our Lady of Lourdes Elementary School and West Catholic Girls’ High.  She graduated from “West” in 1950.  Later, while in the Community, Mary Ann earned degrees from Immaculata College and Villanova University.

Mary Ann entered the Community on September 8, 1950; she received her habit and her religious name, Sister Anita Miriam, on March 26, 1951; she professed her First Vows on April 5, 1953.

In April 1953, Sister began her teaching ministry.  Sister taught at St. Edmond in Philadelphia, SS. Simon & Jude in Bethlehem, and St. Madeleine in Ridley Park.  During the course of this time, Sister taught children in grades 4, 6, 7, and 8.  From the fall of 1968, through the school year ending 1999, Sister’s ministerial opportunities included being the Superior/Principal; Superior/Teacher; Principal; Vice Principal; Day Care Center Staff at St. Monica; and Day Room Service at St. Agnes Parish in West Chester.

In August 2016, Sister Mary Ann rounded out her years of dedicated service at our Convent Home at Camilla Hall where she served faithfully in the Apostolate of Prayer until her death on October 25, 2020.

Due to strict regulations during this time of the Covid 19 Pandemic, Visitation, Funeral Mass, and Interment were private on November 3, 2020.  Reverend Joseph P. Devlin was the Celebrant and Homilist for Sister’s Mass.

Sister Mary Ann Leahy’s dear parents, her brothers John, and Rev. William Leahy predecease Sister.  Sister is survived by her sister Tess Tighe (Joseph).

Sister Patrick Mary Blue, IHM

Anna B. Blue was born on March 9, 1924 in Philadelphia. Her dear parents Patrick and Mary (Henry) Blue was born in Derry County, Ireland.  Mr. and Mrs. Blue raised the family in Immaculate Conception Parish in Germantown, PA.  Anna attended Immaculate Conception Elementary School; however, two years of elementary school were spent in County Antrim in Ireland.  Anna attended Immaculate Conception Commercial School in Philadelphia from 1939 through 1941.

Anna entered our IHM Congregation on October 2, 1944. She received her habit and her religious name, Sister Patrick Mary, on August 16, 1945.  Sister Patrick Mary professed her First Vows on August 15, 1947.

Sister Patrick Mary began her ministry of teaching in the fall of 1946.  Her first assignment was St. Cyril School in East Lansdowne. Sister taught first-grade children there for 11 years.  Sister then taught eighth grade children for 1 year at Sacred Heart School in Havertown.  From this point forward, Sister taught High School students beginning in the fall of 1958 through June 1993 with a two-year period at Immaculata College as an Assistant in the Treasurer’s Office from 1985-1987.

Sister Patrick served in the Library at Conwell-Egan High School for one year; and rendered the same service at Cardinal Dougherty High School for 11 years.  In August 2005, Sister served as an Office Assistant at Queen of Heaven School through the school year ending 2008.

In August 2008, Sister entered Camilla Hall Convent where she served as a member of the Apostolate of Prayer and did so faithfully until her death on October 22, 2020. Sister went to God with very full hands and heart.

As we experience the COVID-19 global pandemic, a relatively limited number of guests were permitted to participate in the Funeral Mass on Friday, October 30, 2020.  Reverend Louis Monica was the Celebrant and Homilist for Sister Patrick Mary’s Funeral Mass.

Sister Marian William Hoben, IHM

Sister Marian William, IHM died in Camilla Hall on Tuesday, October 20, 2020.  Sister died of natural causes, this death is not Covid related.  Sister died in the 78th year of her religious life.

Mary Theresa Hoben was born on January 11, 1923 in Coaldale, PA.  Her parents William and Mary (Burkhardt) raised the family of five children in St. Mary Parish in Coaldale, PA.  Mary Theresa attended St. Mary Elementary School and High School.  She graduated from St. Mary High School in 1940.  Later, while in Community, Sister earned degrees from Immaculata, Providence College, Villanova University, and the University of Pennsylvania.

Mary Theresa entered the Congregation on September 8, 1942.  Sister received her habit and her religious name, Sister Marian William, on August 16, 1943.  Sister professed her First Vows on August 15, 1945.

Beginning in August 1944 to October 1954, Sister Marian William taught grade school children in grades 4 through 8.  From October 1954 to the end of the school year 1960, Sister taught High School students at Hallahan and Bishop Shanahan.

In the fall of 1960, Sister Marian William taught college students at Immaculata College for the next 44 years.  During her 44-year tenure, Sister served as Teacher ‘Par Excellence’, Dean of College Development, VP for Academic Affairs, and in 1982 Sister was elected to serve as President through July 1992.  In August 1992, Sister Marian William remained at Immaculata and taught in the Graduate Division and she served as the Administrative Assistant in Charge of Publications.  Sister was a woman of many gifts.

Sister Marian William continued her joyful service at Camilla Hall in the Apostolate of Prayer and never wavered in her positive outlook until her final rest on October 20, 2020. 

Due to strict regulations during this time of the Covid 19 Pandemic, the Funeral Mass was semi private, with private interment, on Tuesday, October 27, 2020, a limited number of family members were invited to attend the Funeral Mass.  Reverend Angelo Citino was the Celebrant and Homilist for Sister’s Mass.  Reverend Wm. Trader and Deacon Thomas O’Brien were concelebrants.

Sister Marian William’s dear parents William and Mary (Burkhardt), her brothers William, Donald, and Richard, and her sister Vera Scutta predecease Sister.  Sister is survived by her nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews and her Community at Camilla Hall and her Congregation of IHM Sisters. May her beautiful soul rest in peace!

Sister Regina Foy, IHM
Formerly Sister Mary Aloysius

Sister Regina Foy, IHM died in Camilla Hall on Thursday, October 15, 2020.  Sister died of natural causes, this death is not Covid related.

Regina was born on August 12, 1938.  Regina’s parents, Thomas and Helen (Jacober) Foy raised their family in St. Martin of Tours Parish in Philadelphia.  Regina attended St. Martin of Tours and Ascension Elementary Schools then went to Little Flower High School from which she graduated in 1956.  Later, while in the community, Sister earned degrees from Immaculata University, West Chester State, and Notre Dame University.

Regina entered the Congregation on September 8, 1956; she received her habit and her religious name, Sister Mary Aloysius, on March 9, 1957.  Sister Aloysius pronounced First Vows on August 19, 1958.

Beginning in August 1958 through August 1969 Sister taught children in grades 3, 5, 7 along with Music in Immaculate Conception School Somerville, NJ and in Epiphany School in Miami, FL.  In 1969 through 1981, Sister taught music to high school students in Shanahan, Immaculata High School in Somerville, and Central Catholic in Allentown.  For the next 36 years, Sister Regina taught music to students at Immaculata University.  Wherever Sister taught, she exuded faith and joy!

In August 2017, Sister Regina entered the Community of Camilla Hall where she was a part of the Apostolate of Prayer until her death on October 15, 2020.

Due to strict regulations during this time of the Covid 19 Pandemic, the Funeral Mass was semi private on Thursday, October 22, 2020 and private interment.  A limited number of family members were invited to attend the Funeral Mass.  Reverend Dennis Gill was the Celebrant and Homilist; concelebrants included Reverend John J. Sister Regina Foy’s dear parents Thomas and Helen (Jacober) Foy predecease Sister.  Sister is survived by her sisters Rita Muller (Robert, Jr.), Kathleen F. Fischer, Patricia Corbett (Joseph T.) and her brothers Richard T. and James E. Foy many loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and her Congregation of IHM Sisters. Sister M. St. Michel Mullany, IHM

Sister M. St. Michel, IHM died in Camilla Hall on Tuesday, October 13, 2020.  Sister was in the 70th year of her religious life.  Sister was born on January 22, 1933.  Her dear parents, Michael and Philomena (Kelly) Mullany raised their family in Transfiguration Parish in Philadelphia.

Elizabeth Mullany attended Transfiguration Elementary School and West Catholic Girls’ High School.  Later, while in the Community, she earned her A.B. degree from Immaculata and an M.S. degree from Villanova University.

Elizabeth Mullany entered our IHM Congregation on February 2, 1951; she received her habit and her religious name Sister St. Michel on August 16, 1951.  Sister ‘San’ pronounced First Vows on August 15, 1953.

Sister St. Michele’s ministry of teaching centered in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.  Sister taught children in grades 1, 5, 7-8, and high school students.  Sister served at Incarnation, St. Monica, St. Ann (Phoenixville), St. Rose of Lima, and St. Matthew.  Sister lived at St. Anselm convent while teaching at Archbishop Ryan High School.

From August 1977 through August 1984, Sister St. Michel served as superior and principal at St. Katharine Convent/School in Wayne.  In 1981, Sister received a transfer to live at St. Hubert Faculty House and serve in the capacity of Regional Superior until August 1984.

From 1984 through August 1996, Sister served in the dual capacity of Superior/Principal; Superior/Vice Principal at St. John of the Cross; Our Lady of Fatima; and St. Michael in Annandale, VA.

In August 1996, Sister went to Villa Maria House of Studies to learn the skills of an archivist; the following year Sister St. Michel served as our Congregational Archivist, a task she undertook with great diligence and pride.  Sister served in this capacity for 18 wonderful years.

In August 2014, Sister became part of the Camilla Hall Community as a member of the Apostolate of Prayer and Service that she rendered faithfully until her death on October 21, 2020.

Due to strict regulations during this time of the Covid 19 Pandemic, the Funeral Mass was celebrated on Tuesday, October 20, 2020 with a limited number present.  Reverend William Trader was the Celebrant and the Homilist.  Sister St. Michel’s sister, Ellen O’Loughlin was among those present.

Sister St. Michel’s dear parents, Michael and Philomena and her brother Michael predecease Sister.  Her sister Ellen O’Loughlin, and many loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews and her Local Community from Camilla Hall and her Congregation of IHM Sisters mourn Sister M. Sister Marie B. Maguire, IHM
Formerly Sister John Immaculate

Sister Marie B. Maguire, IHM died in Camilla Hall on, Wednesday, October 7, 2020 in the 62nd year of her religious life.  Sister died of natural causes, not Covid related.

Marie was born on April 25, 1937; her parents John and Rose (Gillespie) Maguire raised their family in the Bridgeport area.  Marie attended St. Augustine Elementary School and St. Matthew High School.  Marie graduated from high school in 1955.  Later, while in the Community, Marie Graduated from Immaculata College.

Marie entered the Congregation from St. Augustine Parish in Bridgeport on July 16, 1957.  She received her religious habit and her religious name Sister John Immaculate on January 16, 1958 and professed First Vows on January 16, 1960.

From January 1960 through 2004, Sister John Immaculate taught children in grades 1, 3, 4, 5, and 8 in the Philadelphia area; Erlton, NJ; Broomall, Roslyn, East Lansdowne, Camp Hill, Valley Forge and Falls Church, VA.  Sister served well and faithfully in these areas and touched the lives of many children and their families.  When Sister finished teaching her own specific grade of children, Sister served as a tutor for nine years at St. Charles School in Bensalem.

In August 2013, Sister received her assignment to Camilla Hall where she served in the Apostolate of Prayer and Service Ministry until her death on the beautiful feast of Our Lady of the Rosary, October 7, 2020.

Due to strict regulations during this time of the Covid 19 Pandemic, the Funeral Mass was private.  On Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at 10:30 a.m., a limited number of family members attended Sister’s Funeral Mass.  Reverend Michael J. Gerlach celebrated Sister’s Funeral Mass and delivered the Homily.  May her dear soul rest in peace!

Sister Marie’s dear parents John and Rose predecease Sister; so, too, do her sisters Roseann Guiliano and Gertrude Connor, and her brother John F. Maguire. Her sister, Sister Kathleen T. Maguire, IHM, her many loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews and her Congregation of IHM Sisters survive Sister Marie.  May her dear soul rest in peace.

Sister Marie Esther Hart, IHM

Sister Marie Esther Hart, IHM died in Camilla Hall on Friday, September 18, 2020 in the 72nd year of her religious life.  Sister died of natural causes, this death is not Covid related.

Elizabeth Mary Hart was born on February 8, 1930.  Her parents James and Elizabeth (Burke) Hart the family in St. Monica Parish in Philadelphia.  Elizabeth attended St. Monica Elementary School and Hallahan High School. Later, while in the Community, Sister earned further degrees from Immaculata and Villanova Universities.

Elizabeth entered the Congregation on February 2, 1949; she received her habit and religious name, Sister Marie Esther, on August 16, 1949.  Sister professed First Vow on August 15, 1951.

Beginning in August 1951 through June 1960, Sister taught elementary grade children in a number of places Sacred Heart Manoa, Holy Trinity Morrisville, St. Edmond Philadelphia, St. Madeleine Sophie Germantown, St. John of the Cross Roslyn, and St. Matthew Philadelphia.

From the beginning of the academic year 1960 through June 1994, Sister Esther taught high school students in Immaculate Heart Academy, St. Hubert Philadelphia, Notre Dame Easton, Immaculata Somerville, St. Maria Goretti and Cardinal O’Hara Springfield.

From teaching high school students, Sister Marie Esther then served as Principal at St. Hubert High School from August 1994 through August 2007.  In August 2007, Sister Marie Esther served as the Archdiocesan Coordinator of Math and Science while tutoring students at Hallahan High School.  This ministry ended in August 2017 when Sister Esther took up service to our Sisters in Camilla Hall as a member of the Apostolate of Prayer and service.

Due to strict regulations during this time of the Covid 19 Pandemic, a limited number of family members attended the Funeral Mass on Thursday, September 24, 2020 at 10:30 a.m.  Reverend Denis Gill was the main celebrant and homilist.  Rev. Michael Olivere, Rt. Rev. Richard Antonucci, O.Praem., Rev. William Dean, and Deacon Thomas O’Brien honored Sister Esther by their presence on the altar as well.  A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, October 16, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. at the Cathedral Basilica of SS. Peter and Paul in Philadelphia. This Liturgy will be livestreamed.

Sister Esther’s dear parents James and Elizabeth predecease Sister.  Sister Esther is survived by her brother, James Vincent Hart, her sister, Mary Sweeney, her nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews and her Congregation of IHM Sisters.  May her dear soul rest in peace.

Sister Rosemary Therese Flaherty, IHM
Formerly Sister Marie Patrick

Sister Rosemary Flaherty, IHM died in Camilla Hall on Wednesday, September 2, 2020 in the 74th year of her religious life.  Sister died of natural causes, this death is not Covid related.

Rosemary was born on June 14, 1927; her parents John C. L. and Mary Florence (Nevins) raised their family in New Jersey, Philadelphia, and Manoa areas.  Rosemary attended four different elementary schools. Rosemary then attended Villa Maria Academy in Green Tree and graduated in 1944.  Rosemary attended Immaculata College for one year before entering the Congregation on September 8, 1945.  Later, while in community, she earned her degree from Villanova University.

Sister Rosemary received her habit and her religious name, Sister Marie Patrick, on April 22, 1946; she professed First Vows on August 15, 1948.

From August 1948 through August 1993, Sister taught children in grades 2 through 7 in a variety of places.  Sister’s grade school ministry included a number of parishes in the Philadelphia Archdiocese with a brief stint in Miami and Somerdale, NJ.

Beginning in August 1993, Sister’s ministry turned to Religious Enrichment for one year. Sister then became a part of the Apostolate of Prayer in Camilla Hall from August 1994 through August 1996.  Sister then served in the Literacy Program at St. Francis de Sales Parish from August 1996 through February 2006.

In February 2006, Sister Rosemary rejoined the Apostolate of Prayer Ministry at Camilla Hall until her death on September 2, 2020.

Due to strict regulations during this time of the Covid 19 Pandemic, the Funeral Mass was private.  On Saturday, September 5, 2020 at 10:30 a.m., Reverend Michael J. Gerlach celebrated Sister’s Funeral Mass and delivered the Homily.  At a later, we will participate in a Memorial Mass for Sister Rosemary Flaherty.  May she rest in peace!

Sister Miriam Irene Keenan, IHM

Sister Miriam Irene Keenan, IHM died in Camilla Hall on August 25, 2020 in the 69th year of her religious life.  Sister died of natural causes, this death is not Covid related.

Lillian Keenan was born on November 20, 1932.  Lillian’s parents John and Mary (Antonelli) Keenan raised their family in St. Gabriel Parish in Philadelphia.  Lillian attended St. Gabriel Elementary School and West Catholic Girls’ High.  Lillian graduated from “West” in 1951.  Later, while in community, she earned degrees from Immaculata University and St. Charles Seminary.

Lillian entered the Congregation on September 8, 1951; she received her habit and her religious name, Sister Miriam Irene, on March 10, 1952.  Sister professed First Vows on March 11, 1954.

Sister Miriam Irene taught children in a variety of places.  Sister’s grade school ministry included a number of parishes in the Philadelphia Archdiocese:  Immaculate Conception, Gesu, Sacred Heart (Havertown), St. Francis Xavier, St. Anthony, St. Anastasia and St. Aloysius.  Sister also served in Lima, Peru and Santiago Chile.  Sister’s High School ministry included Cardinal O’Hara, Holy Name in Reading, Archbishop Prendergast and West Catholic.  Sister was dedicated to her students and faithful to giving them her very best.

From August 1997 through August 2003, Sister Miriam resided at St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Convent in Hellertown where her teaching efforts centered on those studying our Catholic Faith via the RCIA Program in the Parish.

In August 2003, Sister Miriam ministered to all at Camilla Hall in the Apostolate of Prayer until her death on August 2020.  May she continue to minister to us from her place of grace and peace.

Sister Marie St. James Nulty, IHM

Sister Marie St. James Nulty, IHM died in Camilla Hall on July 10, 2020, one month shy of her 90th birthday.  Sister died of natural causes, this death is not Covid related.

Helen Nulty was born on August 10, 1930.  Helen’s parents, James and Mary (Carey) Nulty were from Philadelphia. Helen attended St. Francis de Sales (1937-1939) and Most Blessed Sacrament Elementary Schools (1939-1945). She attended West Catholic where she graduated in 1949. Later, while in the community, Sister earned degrees from Immaculata University and St. Charles Seminary.

Helen entered the Congregation on September 8, 1949; she received her habit and her religious name, Sister Marie St. James, on April 10, 1950.  Sister pronounced First Vows on April 13, 1952.

Beginning in March 1952 through August 2017, Sister Marie St. James served the People of God in many capacities. Sister taught children in grades 5 through 7 through August 1974. Sister served as elementary school principal in Assumption West Grove; St. Frances Cabrini Fairless Hills; St. Cecilia in Coatesville; St. Martin of Tours Philadelphia; St. Pius X Norfolk, and Annunciation Bellmawr New Jersey. Sister was blessed with great leadership ability.

From August 2002 through August 2017, Sister Marie St. James lent her talents and gifts to the office of Finance and Development at Our Lady of Angels School until 2014 and to St. Martin of Tours until 2017.

In August 2017, Sister Marie St. James went to Camilla Hall to continue her service until her death on July 10, 2020.

Due to strict regulations during this time of the Covid 19 Pandemic, the Funeral Mass was private on Wednesday July 15, 2020 and private interment.  Reverend William E. Dean was the Celebrant and Homilist at Sister’s Funeral Mass.  Later, we will participate in a Memorial Mass for Sister Marie St. James.  May her beautiful soul rest in peace!

Sister Louise Mary Goeller, IHM
Formerly Sister Maria Beata

Sister Louise Goeller, IHM died in Paoli Hospital.  Sadly, Sister succumbed to the Covid virus on June 30, 2020.  Sister was in the 70th year of her religious life.  Sister was born on March 5, 1932 in Philadelphia.  Her dear parents, Paul and Louise (O’Melia) Goeller were from Philadelphia.

Sister Louise attended both St. Athanasius and Holy Angels Elementary Schools; she attended and graduated from Little Flower High School in 1950.  Later, while in the Community, Sister earned her B. Music degree and an MA in Counseling Psychology.

Louise entered the IHM Congregation on September 8, 1950; she received her habit and her religious name Sister Maria Beata on March 26, 1951. Sister Beata pronounced First Vows on April 5, 1953.

Sister Louise (Beata) taught in St. Mark, Bristol; St. Stephen, Port Carbon, and Allentown Central High School, Allentown beginning in April 1953 through January 1957.

Sister spent the next 11 years in Miraflores, Peru where she taught music until she returned “north” to minister at Holy Trinity in Morrisville, NJ for 2 years. In December 1970 through March 1977, Sister returned to South America. Sister served in Osorno, Chile from 12/70 – 12/74; and in Santiago, Chile from 1/75 – 3/77.

On March 8, 1977, Sister transferred from our IHM Congregation to the Cistercian Nuns of the Strict Observance, St. Rita Abbey in Sonoita Arizona. Sister remained with the Trappistine Sisters until her reentrance to our Congregation on July 25, 1991.

In July 1991 through March 1998, Sister Louise resided at Pacis Hall and served our Sisters in Camilla Hall.

From March 1998 through August 2012 Sister ministered in a variety of capacities. Sister served as Liturgical Music Director at Our Lady of Fatima, Bensalem; Pastoral Worker in Nuestra Senora del Rosario in Chile; Pastoral Minister at Immaculate Conception and St. Michael, Philadelphia; DRE at St. Ephrem in Bensalem.

In August 2012, Sister returned to Camilla Hall to continue her ministry of loving service and generous, faithful prayer until her death on June 30, 2020.

Due to strict regulations during this time of the Covid 19 Pandemic, the Funeral Mass, was private on Tuesday, July 7, 2020 and private interment on July 17, 2020.  Reverend William E. Dean was the Celebrant and Homilist at Sister’s Funeral Mass.  Later, we will participate in a Memorial Mass for Sister Louise Mary Goeller.  May her beautiful soul rest in peace!

Sister Susan Immaculate Platt, IHM


Sister Susan Immaculate, IHM died of natural causes in Camilla Hall on June 26, 2020 the 57th year of her religious life.  Sister was born on March 21, 1945 in Philadelphia.  Her dear parents, Addison and Catharine (Crossin) Platt were from Our Lady of Fatima Parish in Secane.

Sister Susan attended both Sacred Heart (Philadelphia) and Our Lady of Fatima Elementary Schools and Notre Dame High School Academy in Moylan, where she graduated in 1963. Later, while in the Community, Sister Susan earned her A.B. and her M.A. degrees.

Susan Mary Platt entered the Congregation on September 8, 1963; she received her habit and her religious name, Sister Susan Immaculate, on June 27, 1966. Sister Susan professed First Vows on June 28, 1966.

Sister Susan Immaculate taught and served as an elementary school teacher and principal in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia from August 1966 through August 2017.  Sister served as an 8th grade teacher most of her teaching ministry; Sister served as a Principal at St. Joan of Arc (8/89 -8/93); Our Lady of Fatima, Secane (8/93 – 8/99); St. Joseph, Collingdale (8/99 8/2005); and, St. John Bosco, Hatboro (8/05 – 8/07).

From August 2007 through August 2017, Sister Susan served as a Learning Support Professional at St. Martin of Tours Elementary School.  Sister Susan touched thousands of children’s lives throughout her loving ministry of service.

Sister Susan continued her ministry of service and prayer at Camilla Hall until her death on Friday, June 26, 2020.

Sister Frances Marie Devinney IHM
Formerly Sister Marian Josepha

Sister Frances Marie Devinney, IHM died of natural causes in Camilla Hall on Tuesday, May 26, 2020 in the 66th year of her religious life.  Sister was born on March 5, 1937 in Philadelphia.  Her dear parents, Nicholas and Lillian (Lupo) Devinney were from Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish in Bridgeport where Frances and her brother Nicholas, called Pat, grew up.  Frances attended St. Augustine Elementary School and Bridgeport High School from which she graduated in 1954.  Later, while in the Community, Sister earned her degree in Elementary Education from Immaculata College.

Frances entered the Community on September 8, 1954; she received her habit and her religious name, Sister Marian Josepha on March 8, 1955.  Sister Marian Josepha pronounced her First Vows on March 10, 1957.  In 1988, the Community gave the Sisters the opportunity to return to the use of baptismal names, Sister Marian Josepha returned to the use of her baptismal name Sister Frances Marie.

After First Profession of Vows until June 1993, Sister taught children in grades 5 through 8 in the Philadelphia, Girardville, Hatboro, Annandale, VA, Virginia Beach, and Atco, NJ areas through August 1993.

Sister Frances was a staff member at Camilla Hall from August 1996 through 1997.  From August 1997 through August 2001, Sister served as a General School Assistant at St. Joseph School in Ashland.  Once again, Sister returned to Camilla Hall in August 2001 as a devoted staff member, a beautifully kind and faithful IHM Sister who served our Sisters until her on May 26, 2020.

Sister Irene Loretta Cassady, IHM
Formerly Barbara Virginia Cassady

The Covid virus directly affected our IHM Community.  Sister Irene Loretta Cassady, IHM died in Nazareth Hospital on Thursday, May 7, 2020 due to the Virus.  Sister Irene Loretta, an active Vice Principal in St. Matthew School in Philadelphia, was in the 68th year of her religious life.

Barbara Virginia Cassady was born on February 21, 1934.  Her parents Irene (Buczkowski) and John Francis Cassady raised their family in St. Joan of Arc Parish in Philadelphia.

Barbara attended St. Joan of Arc Elementary School from 1940 through 1948. Barbara then attended Little Flower High School and graduated in 1952.  Later, while in the Community, Barbara graduated from Immaculata College with an A.B. in Math and from Villanova University with an M.A. in Math.

Barbara entered the Congregation on September 8, 1952; she received her IHM Habit on March 9, 1953 and her religious name: Sister Irene Loretta.  Sister Irene pronounced her First Vows on March 9, 1955.

Sister Irene began her ministry of teaching elementary school children shortly after First Profession.  At the outset of teaching, Sister taught second grade at BVM, Darby and St. James in Falls Church, VA.  Sister then taught sixth graders at Holy Savior, Norristown for two years.  Sister moved to Annunciation in Bellmawr where she taught seventh and eighth graders, then to St. James in Georgia where she taught eighth graders.  From September 1965 through December 1969, Sister Irene taught Math to high school students at West Catholic.

In January 1969 through August 1975, Sister Irene served as Principal and Superior at Queen of Heaven School/Convent in Erlton, NJ.  In August 1975, Sister served as one of our Educational Community Supervisors until January 1988.

In January 1988, delegates to the General Chapter elected Sister Irene Loretta to serve the Community as Third Councilor on our IHM Leadership Team.  At the death of one of our Council Members, Sister Irene became the Second Councilor.  On April 7, 1994, delegates reelected Sister Irene Loretta as First Councilor on our IHM Leadership Team.

At the conclusion of Sister’s terms in Office, Sister Irene served as Superior/Principal at St. Charles Parish in Drexel Hill for seven years.  Sister then served in the same capacity at Sacred Heart Parish in Havertown for six years.

In August 2013, Sister went to St. Matthew Convent/School in Philadelphia where she served as a faithful IHM Sister and an excellent Vice Principal at St. Matthew Parish until her death on May 7, 2020.  May her beautiful soul rest in peace.

As we experience the COVID-19 global pandemic, we continue to follow the directives of the CDC concerning both Health Care Facilities and to Funeral Directors. The following is the protocol for funerals at Camilla Hall during this difficult time:

  • Visitation, Funeral Mass and Interment private–Wednesday, May 13, 2020.
  • The funeral liturgy was private with the Sisters in Camilla, Sister Mary Ellen and the Sisters of the Council present. Reverend William E. Dean was the Celebrant and Homilist at Sister’s Funeral Mass.
  • The family and IHM Sisters will be invited to a memorial liturgy at a date in the future.

Sister Irene’s brother John, her sister Irene Candy (Harold), loving nieces and nephew, grandnieces, grandnephews, her local community from St. Matthew Convent and her Congregation of IHM Sisters survive Sister.

Sister Regina Cordis IHM
Formerly Margaret T. McLaughlin

Sister Regina Cordis, IHM died of natural causes in Camilla Hall on Wednesday, May 6, 2020 in the 66th year of her religious life.  Sister was born on March 12, 1934 in Philadelphia.  Her dear parents, James and Jane (Rocks) McLaughlin were born in Ireland. Margaret grew up in St. Bernard Parish in Philadelphia where she attended St. Bernard Elementary School, then to St. Hubert High School and graduated in 1952.  Later, while in the community, Sister earned an A.B. in History from Immaculata and an M.A. in History from Villanova University.

Margaret entered the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary on February 11, 1954; she received her habit and her religious name, Sister Regina Cordis on August 16, 1954.  Sister Regina pronounced her First Vows on August 15, 1956.

After First Profession of Vows until June 1993, Sister Regina taught children in grades 5 through 8 in the Philadelphia, Brookhaven, and Hatboro communities. In August 1993, Sister served as a Clerical Assistant at St. William Parish for 11 years.

Beginning in August 2001, Sister served in a variety of outreach ministries: pastoral caregiving, which involved visiting the sick and elderly and the bereavement ministry.  In August 2007, Sister resided at Villa Maria House of Studies and served as an integral member of the Novitiate Formative Community through June 2009.  Sister then returned to caregiving ministries at St. Pius X in Broomall for the next 5 years.  In August 2014 went to Camilla Hall as she continued her ministry of service in the Apostolate of Prayer Community and ministered to our Sisters there with kindness and compassion until her death on May 6, 2020.

Due to strict regulations during this time of the Covid 19 Pandemic, the Funeral Mass, and Interment were private on Saturday, May 9, 2020.  Reverend William E. Dean was the Celebrant and Homilist at Sister’s Funeral Mass.  Later, we will participate in a Memorial Mass for Sister Regina Cordis.  May her beautiful soul rest in peace!

Sister Regina’s parents James and Jane, her brothers James and John and her sister Jane Lowry (Joseph) predecease Sister.  Her sisters Mary Hagerty (Stanley), Josephine Stott (Vic), and her sister-in-law Patricia mourn her loss along with Sister’s nieces and nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and her local Community at Camilla Hall and our Congregation of IHM Sisters.

Sister M. Patricia E. Youtz, IHM
Formerly Sister Maureen Bernard

Sister M. Patricia E. Youtz, IHM died in Camilla Hall on Sunday, April 6, 2020 in the 61st year of her religious life.

Patricia was born on July 14, 1940. Her parents Walter and Mary (Wilton) Youtz were from Steelton and Harrisburg respectively and settled in St. Joachim Parish in Philadelphia.  Patricia attended St. Joachim Elementary School; after which, she attended Little Flower High School and graduated in 1958.  Later, while in the Community, she earned her degree in Elementary Ed. from Immaculata College, followed by her M.A. in Religious Studies from Saint Charles Seminary.

On July 16, 1958, Patricia entered the Congregation. She received the habit of the Congregation on January 16, 1959 and her religious name: Sister Maureen Bernard. Sister professed First Vows on January 17, 1961. In January 1961, Sister Maureen went to St. William School and during her 5 years there, Sister taught students in grade 4, 6, 7, and 8.  From December 1966 through June 1982, Sister taught eighth graders at St. Monica, Philadelphia; St. Joseph in Aston; Holy Savior in Norristown; and St. Thomas More in Arlington, VA.

Beginning in September 1982 through November 1994, Sister taught Religion in a number of high schools. Sister taught York Catholic, St. John Baptist de LaSalle in Shillington, Cardinal Dougherty, Archbishop Wood, St. Hubert, and Archbishop Prendergast.  During this period, Sister served as Superior and Principal at Our Lady of Ransom in Philadelphia from August 1986 through August 1989.

In November 1994 through June 1996, Sister assisted the students and faculty at St. Martin of Tours School; then, in August 1996 through February 1998, Sister served as a teacher assistant at St. Alice School.

Sister Patricia assisted at Bishop Shanahan High School from February 1998 through August 2005.  In August, Sister resided at St. Agnes West Chester while on Home Care for one year.  From August 2006 through August 2011, Sister was a tutor at St. David, Willow Grove, for one year followed by four years at St. Charles School in Bensalem as Library assistant.

Sister went to Camilla Hall in August 2011 where she lived out her final years of loving service, prayer, and kindness until her death on April 6, 2020.

Visitation, Funeral Mass and Interment will be private on Tuesday, April 14, 2020.  At a later date, we will participate in a Memorial Mass for Sister Patricia E. Youtz. May her beautiful soul rest in peace!

Sister Mary Agnes Loftus, IHM
Formerly Sister Michael Raphael


Sister Mary Agnes Loftus, IHM died in Camilla Hall on Sunday, March 22, 2020 in the 76th year of her religious life.

Mary Agnes was born on June 17, 1924. Her parents Michael and Agnes (Bockius) Loftus were from Philadelphia and raised their family in St. Raphael Parish.  Mary Agnes attended St. Raphael Elementary School; after which, she attended West Catholic Girls’ High School and graduated in 1942.  Later, while in the Community, she earned her degree from Immaculata College.

On September 8, 1943, Mary Agnes entered the Congregation. She received the habit of the Congregation on August 16, 1944 and her religious name: Sister Michael Raphael. Sister professed First Vows on August 15, 1946. In September 1945, Sister Michael Raphael taught at St. Agnes School in Sellersville as a senior novice. Sister remained there through June 1947.

During the course of Sister Michael Raphael’s teaching ministry, spanning from September 1945 through June 1992, Sister taught children from grades 3 through 6, which included elementary music.  Sister taught in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.  Sister’s experience also included a 6-year term in St. Simon in Los Altos, CA, a 6-year term at St. Michael’s in Annandale, VA, and a 4-year term at Holy Rosary in Ashland, NJ.

From September 1992 through June 2007, Sister Mary Agnes (who returned to using her baptismal name) rendered many acts of loving service at St. Louis in Yeadon, St. Richard in Philadelphia, St. Joseph in Collingdale, and St. Cyril in East Lansdowne.

In August 2007, Sister Mary Agnes continued rendering loving acts of service at Camilla Hall as a member of the Apostolate of Prayer.

In addition to her Congregation of IHM Sisters, Sister Mary Agnes predeceased her dear Sister in Community, Sister Anne Marie Loftus, IHM; her sister-in-law Madeline; loving nieces and nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.  Sister Mary Agnes now joins in heaven her parents, her brother Joe (Madeline), and her sister Agnes (Andrew).

Visitation, Funeral Mass and Interment will be private on Wednesday, March 25, 2020.  We will participate in a Memorial Mass for Sister Mary Agnes Loftus at a later date.

Sister Marie St. Anne McClung, IHM

Sister Marie St. Anne McClung, IHM died in Camilla Hall on Wednesday, February 26, 2020 in the 70th year of her religious life.  Mary Ellen McClung was born on February 9, 1930. Sister just celebrated her 90th birthday.  Sister’s Dad, Fred was born in Philadelphia, and her Mom, Anna M. Harran (McClung) was born in Londonderry, Ireland.  When Mary Ellen entered the Community, she was a parishioner of St. Francis Xavier in Philadelphia.

Mary Ellen attended St. Francis Xavier elementary school and Hallahan High School; she graduated from Hallahan in 1948. Later, while in the Community, Mary Ellen completed degree work at Immaculata College earning degrees in Elementary Education and French.

Mary Ellen entered the Congregation on February 2, 1950; received her habit and her religious name, Sister Marie St. Anne, on August 16, 1950. Sister Marie St. Anne professed First Vows on August 15, 1952.

Beginning in September 1952 through June 1992, Sister Marie St. Anne taught children in first, fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth grades. Sister was an outstanding teacher and a beautiful IHM Sister to live with in her various missions: St. Charles, St. Gabriel, St. Francis Xavier, St. Thomas, Holy Innocents, St. Clement, Immaculate Conception, and Incarnation.  Sister influenced many children and families for the good.

Beginning in September 1992 through August 2004, Sister assisted children and faculty at Holy Name School in Philadelphia.  From September 2004 through August 2014, Sister assisted in St. Gabriel Convent.

Sister’s service to the children, families, and Sisters never wavered throughout her religious life. In August 2014, Sister’s service continued at Camilla Hall where she engaged in the Apostolate of Prayer for the needs of the Congregation until her death on February 26, 2020.

Sister Marie St. Anne parents and her brothers Joseph (Helen) and Robert predecease her.  Sister is survived by her nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and, of course, her Congregation of IHM Sisters.

Reverend William E. Dean celebrated Sister’s Funeral Mass at Camilla Hall, Immaculata, PA, on Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at 10:30 a.m.  Reverend Douglas M. McKay concelebrated this Liturgy and offered the Homily.

Sister Marie Paschal Penot, IHM

Sister Marie Paschal Penot, IHM died in Camilla Hall on Wednesday, February 26, 2020 in the 64th year of her religious life.  Dolores Josephine Penot was born on August 7, 1937. Both her Dad, Daniel Joseph and her Mom, Ann (Bergmark) Penot were born in Philadelphia. At the time Dolores entered the Congregation, she was a member of Most Blessed Sacrament in Philadelphia.

Dolores attended St. Louis elementary school in Yeadon and West Catholic High School.  Dolores graduated from “West” in 1955.  Later, while in Community, she earned a degree from Immaculata in Theology and her certificate as a Licensed Physical Therapist from the University of Pennsylvania.

Dolores entered the Congregation on September 8, 1955.  On March 8, 1956, she received her habit and her religious name, Sister Marie Paschal.  Sister pronounced First Vows on August 15, 1957.

Beginning in September 1957 through June 1966, Sister Paschal taught children in grades one, two, and four—along with the curriculum for these grades, Sister also taught music. Sister served children in St. Alice, St. Rose of Lima, St. Thomas, St. David, St. Richard, St. Cecilia, and Holy Name—all school in the Philadelphia Archdiocese.

In August 1966 through April 2019, Sister Marie Paschal served in Camilla Hall as a nurse and physical therapist.  Having served in Camilla for 53 years, Sister’s health deteriorated and she became a patient, a recipient of the service she rendered for so long and for so many, in April 2019.  Sister continued her Apostolate of Prayer as a patient until her death on February 26, 2020.

Sister’s parents, her brothers Daniel and Joseph, and her sister Patricia predecease Sister. Her sister-in-law Janet (Daniel), her loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews survive Sister Marie Paschal.

Sister Anne Marie Markoe, IHM
Formerly Sister Marie Georgeanne

Sister Anne Marie Markoe died very suddenly in Paoli Hospital on Tuesday, February 4, 2020 in the 56th year of her religious life.

Anne Marie was born on April 27, 1945. Her parents George and Anne (Devenny) raised their children Anne Marie, Joan, and John in St. Martin of Tours Parish in Philadelphia. Sister’s Mom passed away in 1974 and her Dad passed away in 1985.  Anne Marie attended St. Martin of Tours elementary school and was a 1963 graduate of Little Flower High School. Sister earned subsequent degrees at Immaculata University and Villanova University while in the Community.

Anne Marie entered the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary on September 8, 1963. She received her religious habit and her religious name, Sister Marie Georgeanne, on June 27, 1964. Sister pronounced her First Vows on June 28, 1966. Sister Marie Georgeanne took the option to return to the use of her baptismal name in the late 80s.

Sister Anne Marie began her teaching ministry in September 1966 at St. Jane DeChantal School in Easton for three years; after which, she had the opportunity to advance her studies at Immaculata during the 69-70 school year. In September 1970 through December 1972, Sister taught 8th grade at St. David School in Willow Grove.

In January 1973, Sister went to LaPlanicie, Peru where she taught students on the high school level until August 1978.  When Sister returned from South America, she taught at Villa Maria Academy for two years.  Sister Anne Marie was very adaptable and community minded, she served wherever and whenever the Community needed her gifts.  Sister then taught students at St. Hubert High School from September 1980 through January 1987.

Once again, Community Leadership asked Sister to return to South America, this time to Santiago, Chile. Sister served these children as a High School Religion instructor, a Business English instructor and as Activities’ Staff member.  Sister returned ‘to the states’ in August 1992 where she served our Sisters in Camilla Hall for a year.

Sister Anne Marie returned to the ‘teaching circuit’ in September 1993 until June 2019. Sister was an excellent teacher and she loved all of her students. Sister taught Biology at Immaculata High School in Somerville, New Jersey for 15 years.  Sister’s last teaching assignment was Bishop Denis O’Connell High School in Arlington, Virginia. Sister served at Bishop O’Connell for 11 years.  After Sister left the ‘beloved’ classroom, she went to Immaculata University to serve at the Student Life Center.

Any act of service that Sister Anne Marie rendered, she rendered wholeheartedly and joyfully. Sister Anne Marie exemplified being a Joyful Bearer of Good News. May her beautiful soul rest in peace. Amen!

Dean on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel at Camilla Hall.  Sister’s brother John (Barbara), her sister Joan, her nephew Peter, and many, many loving cousins, friends, her IHM Community at Gillet Convent, Immaculata University and her Congregation of IHM Sisters participated in this sacred celebration.

Sister Mary Rachel Torrieri, IHM
Formerly Caroline Torrieri

Sister Mary Rachel Torrieri died in Camilla Hall on Saturday, February 1, 2020 in the 78th year of her religious life.  Sister Rachel was seven months shy of her 100th birthday!

Caroline Maria Torrieri was born on September 16, 1920.  Her dear parents Dominic and Maggiorina (Negro) Torrieri were born in Italy.  Her Dad passed away in 1982 and her Mom passed away in 1990 – longevity is in the Torrieri genes.  Sister’s siblings Peter (Mary), John (Rose), and Anna Taglianetti (Robert) predecease Sister Rachel.

Caroline went to DeAmicis Public School in Italy from 1926 through 1931.  Several years later, Caroline went to Fleisher Vocational School in Philadelphia during the 1936-1937 school year.  At that time, her family were members of Our Lady of the Angels Parish in Philadelphia.

Caroline entered the Congregation of IHM Sisters on August 15, 1941. She received her habit and her religious name, Sister Mary Rachel, on August 17, 1942. Sister Mary Rachel professed her First Vows on August 15, 1944.

Sister Mary Rachel’s ministry of teaching grade school children began in September 1943 through January 1969. Sister taught younger children (K, 1, 2) at Good Shepherd, Philadelphia; St. Bernard, Easton; Our Lady of Pompei, Philadelphia; Immaculado Corazon, Peru; St. Aloysius Academy, Bryn Mawr and Transfiguration, Philadelphia.  Sister taught sixth grade children in Transfiguration from September 1964 through December 1969.

Sister Mary Rachel taught high school students at Our Lady of Lourdes in Mt. Carmel; York Catholic, York; Archbishop Wood in Warminster; and Villa Maria Academy in Green Tree from January 1970 through June 1980.

In August 1980 through August 1990, Sister served in the Philadelphia Archdiocesan Office as the Coordinator of Hispanic Ministry. In 1990, Sister served the Kennett Square Area Hispanic Ministry in West Grove until August 2000. Sister’s next place of continued “all out” service was as a Pastoral Minister residing at St. William Convent in Philadelphia.  Sister was there through August 2014.

At the “tender” age of 86, Sister’s next and final assignment was to serve her Sisters in Camilla Hall via prayer, companionship, and pleasantry until her death on February 1, 2020.

Reverend Msgr. Francis Depman celebrated Sister’s Funeral Mass at Camilla Hall, Immaculata, PA, on Thursday, February 6, at 10:30 a.m.  Most Rev. Edward M. Deliman, Rev. Augustus Pulco (Homilist), Rev. Alfonso J. Concha, Rev. Scott D. Brockson, and Rev. William E. Dean concelebrated this beautiful liturgy and tribute to Sister Rachel Torrieri.

Present at Sister Mary Rachel’s Funeral Liturgy were her loving Community of Sisters at Camilla Hall, many of our Sisters who serve in the Hispanic Ministry, and her Congregation of IHM Sisters.

Sister Mary P. O’Connor, IHM
Formerly Sister Alice Michael, IHM

Sister Mary P. O’Connor died in Camilla Hall on Monday, January 20, 2020 in the 53rd year of her religious life.

Mary was born on June 8, 1945 in Philadelphia.  Mary attended Most Blessed Sacrament elementary school and West Catholic High School. Mary graduated from “West” in 1963.  While in Community, Mary earned her A.B. Degree from Immaculata University and her M.A. Degree from Glassboro State College.  Before entering the Congregation, Mary worked at Bell Telephone for 3 years.

Mary entered the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary on September 15, 1966.  Sister received her habit and her religious name, Sister M. Alice Michael, on June 27, 1967.  Sister professed her first vows on June 28, 1969.

Sister Alice Michael began her teaching ministry in September 1969. Sister taught primary grade children for nearly all of the years she taught.  From September 2003 through June 2009 Sister served as local superior at St. Joseph Convent in Downingtown and taught fifth grade children.  Sister’s full-time ministry turned to tutoring. Sister was a masterful teacher; she tutored children at Seton Academy in Bethlehem for one year and at St. Dominic School in Philadelphia from September 2010 through June 2014.

Sister Mary (Sister Alice Michael) came to Camilla Hall in August 2014.  Sister was generous with her prayers and praise.  After a long illness, Sister passed into heaven on Monday, January 20, 2020

Present at Sister Mary’s Funeral Liturgy were her loving nieces Mary and Lisa, her grandnephew Connor, and her grandniece Kate.  Also present were Sister’s many loving friends, her “Band” and her Congregation of IHM Sisters.

Sister M. Joseph Francis Stauffer, IHM
Formerly Margaret Stauffer

Sister Joseph Francis Stauffer died in Paoli Hospital on Tuesday, January 14, 2020 in the 74th year of her religious life.

Margaret Rose Stauffer was born on July 12, 1927 in Philadelphia.  Margaret was originally from Good Shepherd Parish in Philadelphia.  Margaret attended Good Shepherd elementary school and graduated from West Catholic Girls High in 1944.  While in Community, Margaret completed courses at Immaculata University.

Margaret entered the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary on September 8, 1945.  Sister received her habit and her religious name, Sister Joseph Francis on April 22, 1946.  Sister professed her first vows on August 15, 1948.  From September 1948 through June 1985 Sister taught children in grades 1 through 7 lovingly, patiently, and competently.  At the conclusion of Sister Joseph’s formal teaching ministry, Sister tutored children at St. Matthew School in Forestville, Connecticut through June 1988.  Sister then assisted in the Activities Office at Little Flower High School for the next 17 years.

Sister Joseph arrived at Camilla Hall in August 2005 with a heart full of loving service; loving service and prayer, which she continued to render until her death on January 14.

Sister’s dear parents Joseph and Margaret (Joyce) Stauffer, her brothers Henry (Margaret), Francis (Marie) and her sister Mary Dark (George) predecease Sister.  Many loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and her Congregation of IHM Sisters were present at Sister’s Funeral Mass.

Sister Marian Dolores Frantz IHM

Sister Marian D. Frantz, IHM died in Camilla Hall on Tuesday, January 14, 2020 in the 66th year of her religious life.  Sister was born on May 20, 1935 in York, PA.  Sister’s home parish was St. Patrick in York.

Marian entered the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary on September 8, 1953.  Sister received her habit and her religious name, Sister Marian Dolores on March 8, 1954.  Sister professed her First Vows on March 10, 1956.  After First Profession until June 1956, Sister Marian “helped out” at Immaculate Heart Academy in Fountain Springs; Incarnation, Philadelphia; St. Maria Goretti in Hatfield; and at Holy Saviour in Norristown.  In August 1956, Sister went to St. Joseph Annex in Downingtown where she taught grades 9 and 10. In August 1957 through June 1959, Sister taught 8th grade at Our Lady of Charity in Brookhaven.

Beginning in September 1959 through June 1983, Sister Marian Dolores taught French to students in various high schools: Our Lady’s in Mt. Carmel, PA; Our Lady of Lourdes in Shamokin; Immaculata, Somerville; Villa Maria Academy in Malvern; York Catholic; and Bishop Hafey.

Sister served as Coordinator of Studies at York Catholic from August 1983 through August 1987.  Sister also served as the Associate Vicar for Religious during the 86-87 year while at York Catholic.

From August 1987 through August 2000, Sister Marian was the Director of the Office for Religious in the Harrisburg Diocese.  After which she was the Delegate for Religious in the Camden Diocese until August 2010.  Sister remained in the Camden Diocese and served as a Spiritual Director/Programs.

Sister Marian entered Camilla Hall in December 2015 and continued bringing spiritual joy, peace, and prayerfulness to all of those around her. After a long illness, Sister Marian entered eternal peace on Tuesday, January 14, 2020.

Sister Mary Sheila Foy, IHM

Sister Mary Sheila, IHM died in Camilla Hall on Wednesday, January 8, 2020 in the 63nd year of her religious life.  Sister was born on August 7, 1939 in Philadelphia, PA; her home parish was St. Cecilia, Philadelphia.

Eileen entered the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary on July 16, 1958.  Sister received her habit and her religious name, Sister Mary Sheila on January 16, 1959.,. Sister professed her first vows on January 17, 1961.  From this point on, Sister served as an elementary school teacher, grades 5 – 8, from January 1961 through June 1979. In August 1979, Sister went to Lourdes High School in Shamokin to teach French; then to Bishop Hafey in Hazleton in August 1983. Beginning in August 1985 Sister Sheila began serving in administrative posts. In 1985 Sister was the Dean of Activities at Archbishop Prendergast High School; President at St. Maria Goretti High School in August 1993; Principal at Our Lady of Lourdes Academy in Miami beginning 2002.

Sister Mary Sheila continued her ministry of serving, supporting, praying, and assisting when she entered Camilla Hall as a resident in 2013 until her death on January 8, 2020.

Sister’s parents Edward D. and Dorothy (Murphy) Foy, and her brothers Edward Jr., James, and her brother-in-law James Kilpatrick predecease Sister.  Sister is survived by her sisters Sheila Kilpatrick, Denise Quinn, and her sister-in-law Margaret (Edward), many loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and her Congregation of IHM Sisters.

Sister Mary Elizabeth Cawley, IHM

Sister Mary Elizabeth Cawley, IHM died in Camilla Hall on Tuesday, January 7, 2020 in the 72nd year of her religious life.  Sister was born on September 26, 1929 in Philadelphia, PA; her home parish was St. Joan of Arc.

Mary Elizabeth entered the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary on September 8, 1947.  Sister received her habit and her religious name, Sister Marita Denise, on March 29, 1948. Sister professed her first vows on April 9, 1950.  From this point on, Sister served as an elementary school teacher from April 1950 through June 1953.  In August 1953 through June 1959, Sister went to teach French at “Our Lady’s” in Mt. Carmel, PA. Sister continued to teach French throughout the remainder of her teaching apostolate. Sister served students in St. Patrick’s York; Norfolk, VA; Lourdes Regional; Prendergast; Marian High School and Bishop Shanahan.  From August 1997 through June 2005, Sister rendered general school assistance in St. Laurence School in Upper Darby.  From August 2005 through August 2012, Sister assisted with Parish Activities at Queen of Peace Parish in Ardsley.

Sister Mary Elizabeth never stopped serving.  Sister entered Camilla Hall in August 2012 where she dedicated herself to the Apostolate of Prayer until her death.

Sister’s parents Michael and Margaret (Tayler) Cawley, her brothers Dennis (Fahney), Joseph (Marguerite), Edward (Rita), James, Thomas (Jean), Francis and her sisters Anne Corcoran (Michael), Margaret Travers (William), and Patricia Welch (Matthew) predecease Sister Mary Elizabeth.  Sister is survived by her sister-in-law Elizabeth (James), many loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and her Congregation of IHM Sisters.

Sister Kathleen Mary Smith

Sister Kathleen Mary Smith, formerly Sister Irene Joseph, died in Camilla Hall on Monday, December 9, 2019 in the 75th year of her religious life.

Sister was originally from St. Joan of Arc Parish in Philadelphia.  Her parents were Irene (Graff) and Joseph T. Smith.  Sister attended Holy Innocents, St. Ann, and St. Joan of Arc elementary schools and Little Flower High School.  Sister Kathleen graduated from Little Flower in 1943 and entered the Congregation on September 8, 1944.

Sister received her habit and her religious name Sister Irene Joseph on August 16, 1945. Sister professed her First Vows on August 15, 1947.

Beginning in September 1946 through June 1979 Sister taught children in grades 1 through 7 in many parishes in the Philadelphia and surrounding areas.  From 1986 through April 2004 Sister served in many different capacities both in school and in her local communities. Sister continued her ministry of prayer and service when she entered Camilla Hall in April 2004 until her death on December 9, 2019.

Sister’s parents Irene (Graff) and Joseph T. Smith predecease her; so, too do her brothers Joseph, Thomas (Mary), and her sisters Edna Pickar (Leonard), and Claire O’Hara (William). Her sister-in-law Jane (Joseph) and many loving nieces and nephews survive Sister Kathleen.

Reverend William E. Dean celebrated Sister Kathleen Mary’s Funeral Mass on Friday, December 13 at 10:30 a.m. in Camilla Hall.

Sister Mary Burke, IHM
Formerly Sister Assumpta Mary

Sister Mary Burke died in Camilla Hall on Saturday, November 23, 2019 in the 69th year of her religious life.

Sister was originally from St. Rose of Lima Parish in Philadelphia.  Her parents were Ann (Hunt) and William Burke.  Sister attended St. Rose of Lima elementary school and West Catholic High School.  Mary graduated from West Catholic in June 1950 and entered the Congregation on September 8 of the same year.  Sister received her habit and her religious name Sister Assumpta Mary on March 26, 1951. Sister professed her Final Vows on April 5, 1953.

Sister taught children in grades 5 through 8 from April 1953 through June 1965 in the following parishes: St. Laurence, St. Agnes, St. Patrick, St. Peter, St. Joseph, and St. Francis deSales. Sister Assumpta Mary touched the lives of many children and their parents.

Sister Assumpta Mary was assigned the role of IHM Elementary School Supervisor in August 1965 through August 1972.  Beginning in 1972, Sister assumed the leadership role of Superior and/or Principal at St. David, St. Matthew in Philadelphia, St. William, St. Aloysius Academy, St. Michael in Annandale Virginia, Villa Maria Academy, and St. Matthew Connecticut.  From August 2007 through August 2010, Sister Assumpta served at Our Lady of Fatima Convent and School.

Sister “retired” to Camilla Hall in August 2010 where she continued to serve in the Apostolate of Prayer along with multitudinous acts of loving kindness.

Sister’s parents William and Anne (Hunt), her brothers Rev. Lawrence A. Burke OFM, William (Jane), John (Mary), Joseph (Betty), Lawrence, her brother-in-law Jack De Munter, and her sister-in-law Peggy (Francis) predecease Sister. Sister is survived by her sister Catherine DeMunter, her brother Francis, and many loving nieces and nephews, and her Congregation of IHM Sisters.

Reverend William E. Dean celebrated Sister Mary Burke’s Funeral Mass on Wednesday, November 27 at 10:30 a.m. in Camilla Hall. Reverend John Joseph Novielli, Reverend Joseph McLaughlin, and Reverend Wilfred Pashley served as concelebrants.

Sister M. Barbara Cossaboon, IHM

Sister M. Barbara Cossaboon, IHM died in Camilla Hall on Friday, November 8, 2019 in the 54th year of her religious life.  Sister just celebrated her 77th birthday on October 26.  Sister suffered valiantly, may she now know eternal peace.

Sister graduated from Wildwood Catholic in 1962 and worked for three years before entering the Community on September 8, 1965.  Sister received her habit and religious name Sister Elizabeth Bertrand on June 27, 1966.  Sister’s Mom and Dad, Elizabeth and Bertrand, were so pleased with Sister’s choice of religious name.  Sister professed her First Vows on June 28, 1968.

From September 1968 through June 1991, Sister taught primary grade children full time in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.  Sister remained faithful to teaching children, her focus became tutoring.

Sister Elizabeth then ministered in the area of compassionate care. Sister served as a hospital visitor and rendered pastoral care at St. Martha Manor in Downingtown. Reverend Francis J. Mulranen, a fellow pastoral minister at St. Martha Manor, celebrated Sister’s Funeral Mass on Thursday, November 14 at Camilla Hall and delivered the homily; Reverend Anthony Costa and Reverend William E. Dean concelebrated.

Sister Barbara’s parents Bert and Elizabeth (Roseman) Cossaboon predecease Sister. Sister Barbara is survived by her sisters Georgia (Donald) Embs, Patricia (Robert), Sheehan, Betsy (John) Gallagher, and her brother Bert (Jane) Cossaboon, and loving nieces and nephews.

Sister Patricia Margaret Krage, IHM
Formerly Sister Regina Patrice

Sister Patricia Margaret Krage, formerly Sister Regina Patrice, died very suddenly in Camilla Hall on Friday, November 1, 2019 in the 65th year of her religious life.

Patricia was born on September 3, 1936. Sister attended three different schools for her elementary education: St. Katherine in Wayne, Gonzaga in Germantown and graduated from St. Anastasia in 1950.  Sister attended St. Agnes High School and graduated in 1954.

Patricia entered the IHM Congregation on September 8, 1954; she received her habit and religious name Sister Regina Patrice on March 8, 1955. Sister professed her first vows on March 10, 1957.

Beginning in March 1957 through August 1965, Sister served children in grades 2 through 8. Sister inspired many grade school children at St. Joan of Arc, St. Peter in Reading, Good Shepherd, Philadelphia, Assumption, Feasterville and Immaculate Conception School in Philadelphia.  From August 1965 through August 1985, Sister served high school students in the discipline of Business Education.  Sister nourished the seeds of ethical work habits and business skills at the following High Schools:  Cardinal O’Hara, Archbishop Wood, Bishop Kenrick, St. Maria Goretti, Holy Name, Notre Dame, Archbishop Ryan and Bishop Shanahan. After twenty successful years teaching students business education subjects, Sister returned to teaching eighth graders from 1985 through 2001.  Sister rounded out her teaching ministry by tutoring children as well as providing religious enrichment in elementary grades from August 2001 through August 2014.  Sister’s manner and her instruction influenced many children.

Sister Patricia’s ministry of service continued in the Apostolate of Prayer and Service at Camilla Hall beginning in August 2014. Sister served amiably and efficiently in our Pharmacy at Camilla Hall.  Sister’s prayerful and joyful influence was broad and we count on her loving intercession.

Sister Patricia’s parents Margaret (Walsh) and Steven Krage and her sister-in-law Susan Reed (George) predecease Sister.  Sister’s brothers, George and Michael, and loving nieces and her Congregation of IHM Sisters survive Sister Patricia.

Sister Loretta Anne Dinda, IHM

Sister Loretta Anne Dinda, IHM died in Camilla Hall on Sunday, October 20, 2019, in the 63rd year of her religious life.  Sister was born on February 21, 1938.  Her parents Loretta (Leahy) and John Joseph Dinda lived in St. Barnabas Parish in Philadelphia.  Loretta attended St. Barnabas elementary school then to West Catholic Girls’ High School.  Loretta graduated from West Catholic in 1956 and entered our IHM Congregation on September 8, 1956; she received her habit and religious name, Sister Loretta Shaun, on March 9, 1957. Sister professed her First Vows on August 19, 1958.

From August 1958 until January 1991, Sister taught children in sixth, seventh, and eighth children in the Archdiocesan Philadelphia schools.  In January 1991, Sister began to serve in the area of Pastoral Care at Jeanes Hospital.  From August 1991 through August 1992 Sister undertook Clinical Pastoral Education studies. In August 1992, Sister was part of the Pastoral Care Team at Nazareth Hospital until August 2010.

In August 2010, Sister Loretta served her own IHM Sisters at Camilla Hall as a pastoral care giver until she herself was in need of care.  Sister Loretta’s last assignment was to serve in the Apostolate of Prayer at Camilla Hall.  Sister served most faithfully in all areas of her life until her death on October 20, 2019. God rest her soul!

Her parents Loretta (Leahy) and John, and her brother Rev. John J. Dinda predecease Sister Loretta.  Her brother Walter (Mary Louise), her sister Lucy Tucker (Stephen), and loving nieces and nephews, and her Congregation of IHM Sisters survive Sister.

Sister M. Patricia Ann Berger, IHM

Sister M. Patricia Ann Berger, IHM died in Camilla Hall on Wednesday, September 11, 2019, in the 64th year of her religious life.  Sister was born on March 23, 1938. Her parents George and Josephine (Heiser) raised their children in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish in Mt. Carmel, PA. Patricia attended Our Lady of Mt. Carmel grade school and Catholic High School in Mt. Carmel.

Sister entered the Congregation on September 8, 1955; she received her habit and religious name, Sister Mary Philomena, on March 8, 1956. Sister professed her First Vows on August 15, 1957.  From August 1957 through June 1983, Sister taught children in the lower elementary grades in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, Reading, and Decatur, Georgia.  Beginning in August 1983 Sister taught children in the area of Library Science in the Pennsylvania upstate area through June of 2009.  In 2009, Sister served as the Librarian at St. Pius X School in Broomall through June 2015.

Sister Patricia’s last assignment was to serve in the Apostolate of Prayer at Camilla Hall in August 2015.  Sister served most faithfully in all areas of her life until her death on September 11, 2019. God rest her soul!

Her parents George and Josephine (Heiser) Berger and her nephew Robert Christian Berger predecease Sister Patricia.  Present at Sister’s Funeral Mass were her brothers Rev. Robert F. Berger, Francis X. (Sue), and her sister Kathleen Ferdock (Ronald).

Reverend Robert Berger (Sister Patricia’s brother) was the celebrant and homilist of the Funeral Mass on Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at Camilla Hall. The Concelebrants were Rev. John J. Jagodzinski, Rev. Richard Malone, Rev. William Lynn, and Rev. Jonathan Sawicki.

Sister Loretta William Fitzpatrick, IHM

Sister Loretta William Fitzpatrick, IHM died in Camilla Hall on Monday, September 2, 2019, in the 66th year of her religious life.  Sister would have celebrated her 85th birthday in November.  Anne Marie Fitzpatrick was born on November 7, 1934 in Philadelphia. Sister entered the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary on February 11, 1953 from Most Blessed Sacrament Parish in Philadelphia. Sister received her habit on August 15, 1953 and her religious name Sister Loretta William.  Sister pronounced her first vows on August 15, 1955.

From August 1955 through June 2012 Sister served children in grades 1 through 3 as a full-time teacher; tutor; teacher of religious instruction; teacher aide; Sister influenced the lives of all of her children.

Beginning in August 2012, Sister Loretta William continued her acts of service at Camilla Hall as a faithful participant in the Apostolate of Prayer.

Her parents Francis and Kathryn (Mulcahy) Fitzpatrick, her brothers Bernard, Francis, William, and her sister Mary Szczyrbak (Jack) predecease Sister Loretta William.

Her sister-in-law Therese (Francis), many loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and her Congregation of IHM Sisters, survive Sister Loretta.

Reverend William Dean celebrated the Funeral Mass on Friday, September 6 at Camilla Hall.

Sister Theresa Gmeiner, IHM died in Camilla Hall on Thursday, August 22, 2019 in the 70th year of her religious life.  Theresa was born on October 16, 1931 in Philadelphia.

Theresa entered the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary on September 8, 1949 from Good Shepherd Parish in Philadelphia.  Sister received her habit and her religious name, Sister Martin Marie, on April 10, 1950; Sister professed her First Vows on April 13, 1952.

For most of Sister’s professional life, she served as an elementary grade school teacher in various places: Philadelphia, Reading, Falls Church, Somerville, Primos, and Bensalem. In 1997, Sister Theresa served as  Pastoral Minister at St. Mary Manor.  Sister rounded out her years of service to God and Community as a resident of Camilla Hall where she was an active member of the Apostolate of Prayer from August 2011 until her death.

Sister’s parents Ambrose and Cecelia (Ficchi) Gmeiner, her sister Rita Algeo (Hugh), and her brother-in-law Raymond Kistler, predecease Sister Theresa.  Sister is survived by her brother Leonard (Patricia), her sister Philomena Kistler, and many nieces, nephews; grandnieces, grandnephews, and her Congregation of IHM Sisters.

The Funeral Mass was celebrated at Camilla Hall, Immaculata, PA, on Tuesday, August 27, 2019.  The celebrant was Rev. William E. Dean.

Sister Rose Immaculate McHale, IHM died in Camilla Hall on Saturday, August 17 in the 62nd year of her religious life.  Formerly Dorothea McHale, Sister was born on October 7, 1939 in Ashland, PA; her home parish was St. Joseph in Ashland.

Dorothea entered the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary on February 11, 1958.  Sister received her habit and her religious name, Sister Rose Immaculate, on August 15, 1958. Sister professed her first vows on August 16, 1960.  From this point on, Sister served as an elementary school teacher from August 1960 through August 1969.

Sister Rose earned her LPN Degree from Lankenau Hospital and from August 1969 through August 2012 Sister served our Sisters at Camilla Hall with compassion and care.  In August 2012, Sister joined the ranks of our Sisters in Camilla Hall who serve faithfully in the Apostolate of Prayer and Service.

The Funeral Mass was celebrated at Camilla Hall, Immaculata, PA, on Friday, August 23, 2019.  The celebrant was Rev. Msgr. Thomas J. Dunleavy and the homilist was Rev. William C. Kauffman; also concelebrating Rev. Msgr. William Dombrow, Rev. Edward Lavelle, Rev. Joseph Smith, and Rev. William Dean.

Sister Joan Mary Gibbons, IHM

Sister Joan Mary Gibbons, IHM died in Camilla Hall on Sunday, August 8 in the 66th year of her religious life.  Sister just celebrated her 84th birthday in June.  Formerly Irene Gibbons, Sister was born on June 15, 1935; her home parish was St. Edmond in Philadelphia.

Irene entered the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary on February 11, 1953.  Sister received her habit and her religious name, Sister Joan Mary, on August 15, 1953. Sister professed her first vows on August 15, 1955.  From this point on, Sister served tirelessly in Philadelphia, Reading, and Coatesville as an elementary grade teacher. In 1995, Sister Joan went to St. Gabriel School in Philadelphia where she remained until 2015. From 1995 to 1999, Sister taught 6th grade; from 1999 to 2014, she served as a staff member in the Computer Science Lab after which she served as an office assistant until 2015.  In August 2015, Sister joined the community of Camilla Hall where she served as a member of the Apostolate of Prayer.

Sister’s parents John and Catherine (McCarron) Gibbons, her brothers John (Margaret), Francis (Anna May), James (Catherine), and her sister Catherine Kelly (Walter) predecease Sister Joan Mary.  Sister is survived by her sister Joan Rickabaugh, many nieces, nephews; grandnieces, grandnephews, and her Congregation of IHM Sisters.

The Funeral Mass was celebrated at Camilla Hall, Immaculata, PA, on Tuesday, August 13, 2019.  The celebrant and homilist was Rev. William E. Dean.

Sister Alice M. Gleason, IHM
Formerly Sister Regina Cordium

Sister Alice Gleason died in Camilla Hall on Sunday, July 21, 2019, in the 69th year of her religious life.  Sister just celebrated her 88th birthday.

Alice Gleason was born on July 10, 1931 in Philadelphia. Sister entered the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants, of the Immaculate Heart of Mary on September 8, 1950. Sister received the Habit of the Congregation on March 26, 1951; Sister’s religious name was Sister Regina Cordium. Sister professed First Vows on April 5, 1953.

From this date forward, Sister’s professional ministry spanned service as both an elementary and a high school teacher. Sister served in Newtown Square; Ashland, PA; and Philadelphia. From August 1993 through August 2004 Sister was the Director of Development at St. Hubert High School; then, in August 2004 Sister served as Development Consultant. In August 2016, Sister continued to serve wholeheartedly in the Apostolate of Prayer until her death on July 21, 2019 in her home at Camilla Hall.

The funeral Mass was celebrated at Camilla Hall, Immaculata, PA on Friday, July 26 at 10:30 am.  Reverend Michael S. Olivere was the celebrant and homilist. Reverend Brendan Horan, SJ and Deacon Patrick Thorp also served at the altar.

Sister’s parents Francis X and Rose (Harkins) Gleason, and her brothers Francis J. (aka Buddy), and Joseph (Margaret) predecease Sister Alice.  Sister is survived by members of her IHM Community, her sister-in-law Violet (Vi) and many loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.

Sister M. Dorothy Fogarty, IHM
Formerly Sister Regina Alice

 

Sister Dorothy Fogarty, also known as Sister Regina Alice, died in Camilla Hall on Saturday, June 1 2019 in the 65th year of her religious life.  Sister Dorothy was just shy of her 83rd birthday.  Sister was born in Bridgeport, on July 12, 1936.  Sister entered the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary on September 8, 1954 from St. Augustine Parish in Bridgeport, PA.

Sister professed first vows on March 10, 1957.  Sister taught math to children in grades 8 through 12 for most of her teaching ministry. Sister taught in Philadelphia, Harrisburg, Shamokin, Easton, and Feasterville.  Sister’s last assignment before going into Camilla Hall was at Archbishop Carroll High School in Strafford in October 2000.  As a resident in Camilla Hall, Sister was an active member of the Apostolate of Prayer and service to our Sisters there.

Sister Dorothy’s parents Maurice and Alice (Crimmins) Fogarty, her siblings, Richard (Louise), Maurice (Kathryn), and Alice Ann Noble (Howard) predecease Sister.

The Community celebrated Sister Dorothy’s Funeral Mass on Wednesday, June 5, at Camilla Hall, Immaculata, PA.  Reverend Brendan Horan, S.J. was the Celebrant and Homilist. The concelebrants were Rev. James Flynn, O.S.A. and Rev. William E. Dean.

Sister M. Kathleen Gorman, IHM
Formerly Sister Alice Joseph

Sister Kathleen Gorman died in Camilla Hall on Thursday, May 23, 2019 in the 59th year of her religious life.  Sister Kathleen was 77 years old.

Sister was born in Philadelphia, on October 1, 1941. Sister entered the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary on July 16, 1960 from St. Stephen Parish in Philadelphia.  Sister professed first vows on January 16, 1963.

Sister taught children in first grade from 1963 through 1968; then, Sister taught primarily seventh and eighth students. Sister Kathleen served as a Principal from 1984 through 2012.  Sister’s ministry took her to Reading; Lynchburg, VA; Philadelphia; Havertown; Villas, NJ; Somerville, NJ; Savannah, GA; Harrisburg; and upstate PA. Sister was beloved wherever she served.  Sister’s last assignment was ministering to the sick and elderly in St. Ephrem Parish 2013 through August 2017 before illness took her to Camilla Hall where she assisted our Sisters there and served as an active member of the apostolate of prayer.

We celebrated Sister Kathleen’s Funeral Mass on Wednesday, May 29, at Camilla Hall, Immaculata, PA.  Reverend George Winine was the Celebrant and Homilist. The concelebrants were Msgr. Thomas Murray, Msgr. Kenneth McAteer, Rev. Edward Burke, Rev. Philip Burger, and Rev. William Dean.

Sister’s parents, Joseph and Alice (Carr) predecease Sister Kathleen.  Family members present included her brothers Joseph (Lynn), Sean (Patricia), and Kevin; and a host of loving nieces, nephews and wonderful Sister friends and loving colleagues who ministered with Sister over the years.

Sister Mary Louise Birster, IHM
Formerly Sister Peter Mary

Sister Mary died very suddenly in Chestnut Hill Hospital on Tuesday, April 30, 2019, in the 68th year of her religious life.  Sister was 8 days shy of her 85th birthday.  Sister Mary Louise was born in Mount Carmel, Pennsylvania on May 8, 1934.

Sister entered the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary on September 8, 1951 from St. Joseph Parish in Ashland, Pennsylvania. Sister Mary professed her first vows on March 11, 1954.

Sister served children as an elementary grade teacher from 1954 through 1958 in the Delaware County area of the Philadelphia Archdiocese. From 1958 through 1964, Sister Mary served in Callao, South America where Sister taught grades 9 through 12.  Upon her return to the States, Sister began her many years of service as a high school educator with a brief period in 1969 where Sister served as a member of the Formation Personnel at Villa Maria House of Studies.

From 1970 through 2017, Sister taught high school students; she served as Dean of Studies at Trinity High School in Shiremanstown; served as Principal Our Lady of Lourdes Academy in Miami and Immaculata High School in Somerville. Sister’s most cherished mission of service was to teach, and this she did with dedication and love, Sister’s last teaching mission was at Trinity High School in Shiremanstown in the Diocese of Harrisburg where she was beloved by colleagues, students, parents, and all of those whom she touched simply by her presence.

Sister Mary entered Camilla Hall in September 2017 to take up her final assignment, the “Apostolate of Prayer and Service.”

Sister Mary’s parents, Peter and Mary (Vogel) Birster predecease Sister Mary. Sister is survived by loving cousins, and friends too numerous to articulate, and of course, her beloved Congregation of IHM Sisters.

Reverend Monsignor Seamus F. Brennan (homilist), along with Reverends Anthony M. Sirianni, John Maria Devaney, OP, Tholitho Nyuwi, Joseph McLaughlin, O.Praem, and William E. Dean celebrated Sister’s Funeral Mass at Camilla Hall on Tuesday May 7, 2019.  In addition, Sister Catherine de Notre Dame, a Little Sister of the Poor (Sister Mary Birster’s cousin) who serves in Maryland, was present at this holy Mass.

Sister Geraldine Marie Kane, IHM

Sister Geraldine died in Camilla Hall on Thursday, April 25, 2019, in the 70th year of her religious life.  Sister was 94 years old.  Born in Philadelphia, Sister entered the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary on September 8, 1949 from Saint Matthew Parish in Philadelphia. Sister pronounced her first vows on April 13, 1952.  From that point forward, Sister Geraldine served as an elementary grade school teacher through 1978; from 1978 through 1986, Sister Geraldine served as Principal at St. Agatha-James and St. Clement schools respectively.

In August of 1997, Sister resided at Pacis Hall and served our Sisters in Camilla Hall. In 2007, Sister Geraldine moved to Camilla Hall where she continued to serve our Sisters and be a full time Apostle of Prayer.

Her parents, Howard and Elizabeth (Fahey) Kane, her brothers Elmer (Nell), Preston (Madeline), Walter (Charlotte), Edward (Margaret), Howard (Rita), and her sisters Jessie, Dolores (James), Eleanor (Joseph) predecease Sister Geraldine. Sister is survived by many loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and her Congregation of IHM Sisters.

Sister Marian Regina Sweeney, IHM

Sister Marian Regina, IHM died in Camilla Hall on Good Friday, April 19, 2019 in the 66th year of her religious life.  Sister was three days short of her 85th birthday. Sister was born on April 22, 1934 in Philadelphia.

Sister entered the IHM Community on September 8, 1953 from St. Gabriel Parish in South Philadelphia. Sister pronounced her first vows on March 10, 1956.  From that point forward, Sister Marian taught children in elementary school until 1965. Sister then taught high school students in North and South America through June 1977.  Sister Marian then served in leadership as Superior and Principal in the Philadelphia area through 1988.  In 1988 Sister Marian Regina served our IHM Sisters as the Assistant to our Congregational Treasurer in the areas Insurance, Social Security, Medicare and ‘all things’ Medical.  Sister served generously, tirelessly, and patiently.

In March 2018, after thirty years of tireless service in the Motherhouse, health issues prompted Sister Marian Regina to choose a ministry in Camilla Hall where her service would continue in the Apostolate of Prayer.

Her parents James and Bridget (Mitchell) Sweeney, her brother Alexander (Mary), and her sisters Catherine Ellis (William), Teresa Cornish (William), Margaret Borio (Edward), Mary, and Elizabeth predecease Sister Marian Regina.

Sister is survived by many loving, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews and her Congregation of IHM Sisters.

Reverend William Dean and Reverend Joseph McLaughlin celebrated her Funeral Mass at Camilla Hall on Thursday, April 25, 2019 at Camilla Hall.

Sister Geraldine M. Whitman, IHM

Sister Geraldine M. Whitman died in Camilla Hall on Thursday, April 18, 2019, in the 61st year of her religious life.  Sister was just shy of her 79th birthday.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, on June 23, 1940, Sister entered the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary on July 16, 1958, from Mater Doloroso Parish.  Sister professed her vows on January 17, 1961.

Sister served children as an elementary school teacher in the areas of Philadelphia, Morrisville, New Jersey, Falls Church and Virginia Beach until 2002. From that point on, Sister served as a chaplain minister to patients at Norristown State Hospital until August 2013, when Sister Geraldine took up residence at Camilla Hall to continue her ministry of service in the Apostolate of Prayer and Assistance.

Reverend William E. Dean celebrated the Funeral Mass at Camilla Hall, Immaculata, PA on April 23, 2019.

Sister is survived by members of her religious community, many friends, and acquaintances.  Sister was predeceased by her parents, George and Geraldine Kelly, and her brother Robert (Monica).

Sister Mary D. Iavarone, IHM
Formerly known as Sister Maria Dominica

Sister Mary Iavarone, IHM died in Camilla Hall on Sunday, February 3, 2019, in the 66th  year of her religious life.  Sister was 87 years old.  Born in Philadelphia, Sister entered the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary on September 8, 1952 from Most Blessed Sacrament Parish in Philadelphia. Sister pronounced her first vows on March 3, 1955.

During the course of the next 40 years, Sister Mary taught in many elementary schools in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and for a brief time, Sister taught in Annandale, Virginia.  From 1991 until August 2007, Sister served as a tutor/school assistant then moved into pastoral work:  visiting the sick and elderly in their homes as well as in the hospital.  Sister Mary’s final act of service was to the Apostolate of Prayer in Camilla Hall in August 2007.

Sister Mary is predeceased by her parents Stanley and Pierina Costantini Iavarone; her sister, Felicia Cacciavillani (Amadeo); and her sister-in-law Virginia Damiani.  Sister is survived by her brothers Andrew (Doris) and Victor Damiani, and her Congregation of IHM Sisters.

Reverend William Dean celebrated the Funeral Mass on Wednesday, February 6 at Camilla Hall.

Sister M. Catherine Green, IHM
Formerly: Sister John Aloysius

Sister Catherine Green, IHM died in Camilla Hall on Tuesday, February 5, 2019, in the 73rd year of her religious life.  Sister was 91 years old.  Born in Philadelphia, Sister entered the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary on September 8, 1945 from Immaculate Conception Parish in Philadelphia. Sister pronounced her first vows on September 15, 1948.  From that point forward, Sister Catherine served in many capacities during her religious journey: grade school teacher, high school teacher, principal, superior and office assistant. Sister Catherine served in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. In August 2009, Sister Catherine entered Camilla Hall where her service continued in the Apostolate of Prayer.

Her parents John Aloysius and Catherine Fagan Green predecease Sister Catherine as well as her sister Anna T. Powell (Daniel) and her deceased IHM Aunt, Sister Regina Ange and her deceased IHM cousin, Sister Marie Kelly.

Her loving nephew, Reverend Daniel F.X. Powell, who, with Reverend William Dean, celebrated her Funeral Mass at Camilla Hall on Saturday, February 9 at Camilla Hall.

Sister Mary Canavan, IHM
Formerly: Sister Mary of the Infant

Sister Mary Canavan, IHM died in Camilla Hall on Friday, January 18, 2019, in the 70th year of her religious life.  Sister was 89 years old. 

Born in Philadelphia, PA, Sister entered the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary on September 8, 1948 from St. Madeleine Sophie Parish in Philadelphia. Sister pronounced her first vows on April 18, 1949.

Sister taught in many elementary and secondary schools in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. Sister also served as a teacher in Florida and in South America.  Sister served in the ministry of Catholic education from 1951 through August 2011 before her final assignment to the Apostolate of Prayer in Camilla Hall in August 2011.

Reverend William Dean celebrated the Funeral Mass on Wednesday, January 23 at Camilla Hall. Reverend Joseph McGeown, a long-time friend of Sister Mary, delivered a beautiful, meaningful homily. Sister Mary has a very large family and in attendance were many, many family members, friends and beloved IHM Sisters.  Sister is survived by her brothers Joseph (Joann), Francis, her sisters Catherine McManus, Roseanne Norris (Walter), Marguerite Teresa Gaffney (Joseph), Eileen Hill, her sister-in-law Doris and many loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

 

Sister Marie Isabel Carpio

Sister Marie Isabel Carpio-More died in Camilla Hall on Tuesday, January 15, 2019, just shy of her 76th birthday in the 54th year of her religious life.

Born in Lima, Peru, Sister entered the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in 1964 in our House of Formation in Las Condes, Santiago, Chile. Sister Isabel professed her First Vows on February 11, 1967 in Chile.

Sister Isabel served in many different capacities in her native South America. Sister served as grade school teacher; teacher of Religion in High School; Coordinator of Pastoral Activities; Assistant to Religion Department and Pastoral Chairperson.

In April 2016, Sister Isabel became ill and came to the United States to receive the needed care in our Nursing Convent Home, Camilla Hall.  Sister Isabel then began her final service dedicated to the Apostolate of Prayer.

Sister Isabel is survived by her sisters:  Rosa Maria, Augusta, Raquel, Ana Maria; her brothers Guillermo, Luis, and Miguel and many loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Sister Isabel’s three sisters visited her in Camilla in September; it was not possible for any of the family to travel from South America for Sister’s Funeral Mass in the United States.

Reverend William Dean celebrated the Funeral Mass at Camilla Hall, Immaculata, on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at 10:30 am. Many of our Sisters who were missioned in South America over the years attended this beautiful Mass and participated in the Entrance and Recessional Procession. It was a most loving tribute to Sister Isabel.

 

Sister Mary Rosina Burns

Sister Mary Rosina Burns died in Camilla Hall on Friday, November 16, 2018 in the 60th year of her religious life. Sister was 78 years old.

Sister entered the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary on July 16, 1958 from St. Clement Parish in Philadelphia. Sister professed her vows on January 17, 1961.

Sister taught briefly in the elementary schools in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia after professing her vows; then, while earning her RN Degree, Sister served our elderly and infirmed Sisters at her beloved Camilla Hall beginning in August 1968 until her death in November 2018.  Sister Rosina modeled professionalism, dedication, and compassion throughout her life of service.

Sister Rosina is survived by her local Community at Camilla Hall; her brothers: John (Rose) and James (Sonja), and her sister Elizabeth Anne Bradley (George); and, many loving nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Mass was celebrated at Camilla Hall, Immaculata, PA on Wednesday, November 18, 2018.  Rev. William E. Dean was the Celebrant and Homilist and Reverend Joseph McLaughlin, (O.Praem) and Reverend William Trader, (O.Praem) concelebrated.  Deacon Kenneth Cavara assisted. Countless associates, friends, and IHM Sisters were present for this celebration of Sister Mary Rosina.

 

Sister Marita Helen Harrington, IHM

Sister Marita Helen Harrington, IHM died in Camilla Hall on Sunday, October 28, 2018, in the 67th year of her religious life.  Sister was 85 years old.  Born in Philadelphia, PA, Sister entered the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary on September 8, 1951 from Transfiguration Parish in Philadelphia. Sister Marita professed her vows on March 11, 1954.

Sister taught in elementary schools in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia for twenty years then moved into the service area of Guidance Counselling in the Dioceses of Harrisburg and Arlington.  In 1986 Sister Marita came to Camilla Hall to serve our elderly and infirmed Sisters; this was her last assignment before entering the Apostolate of Prayer at Camilla Hall in August 2008.

The Funeral Mass was celebrated at Camilla Hall, Immaculata, PA, on Friday, November 2, 2018. The celebrant and homilist was Rev. David Grover. Also concelebrating was Rev. Msgr. Joseph Logrip and Rev. William E. Dean.

In addition to her Congregation of IHM Sisters, Sister is survived by loving nieces and nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews.  Sister Marita Helen was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Marian Grover Harrington, and siblings Joseph, Ann (Charles), and Frances.

 

Sister Marie Honora Fraties, IHM

Sister Marie Honora Fraties, formerly known as Marie Theresa Fraties, died in Camilla Hall on Friday, October 26, 2018 in the 68th year of her religious life.  Sister was 86 years old.

Sister was born in Philadelphia in 1932. Sister entered the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart in 1950 from St. Martin of Tours Parish. Sister professed her vows on April 5, 1953.

Sister taught in various elementary schools in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. Sister Honora also served the Community at Villa Maria House of Studies from August 1995 through August 2001; then again from August 2004 through August 2012 before being assigned to the Apostolate of Prayer in Camilla Hall in 2012.

The Funeral Mass was celebrated at Camilla Hall, Immaculata, PA on Wednesday, October 31, 2018.  Msgr. Joseph Logrip was Celebrant and Homilist. The Concelebrants were Rev. William E. Dean, Rev. William J. Lynn, and Rev. Msgr. Stephen P. McHenry.

In addition to her Congregation of IHM Sisters, Sister Honora is survived by many loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. Sister is predeceased by her parents James and Mary Ann Holland Fraties, and her brother James (Elizabeth).

Sister Joan M. Carroll (Ronald Maureen), IHM

Sister M. Joan Carroll, formerly Sister Ronald Maureen, died in Camilla Hall on October 7, 2018 in the 62nd year of her religious life. Sister was 80 years old. Born in Norristown, PA, Sister entered the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in 1956 from St. Patrick Parish, Norristown, PA and professed her vows in 1958.

Sister taught and was principal in elementary schools mainly in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.  Sister also served in the Dioceses of Arlington in the early 1960s and in the Metuchen Diocese in the later 1960s.  Sister served our Sisters as Superior at Pacis Hall Convent before being assigned to Camilla Hall on August 2, 2010 for her ministry in the Apostolate of Prayer.

The Funeral Mass was celebrated at Camilla Hall, Immaculata, PA, on Thursday October 11, 2018. The principal celebrant and homilist was Reverend Msgr. Joseph Logrip; also concelebrating were Rev. Msgr. Richard T. Bolger, Reverend John Babowitch, Reverend Thomas J. Brennan, Reverend Martin E. Woodeshick, and Reverend William E. Dean.

In addition to her congregation, Sister is survived by her sister Rosellen Smith.

 

Sister M. Francis Joseph Loughran, IHM


Sister Francis Joseph Loughran died in Camilla Hall on Sunday, September 30, 2018 just shy of her 101st birthday.  Sister entered her eternal reward in the 77th year of her religious life.

Sister Francis was born in Ireland on November 18, 1917.  Sister entered the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary on October 2, 1941 from St. John the Baptist Parish in Manayunk.

Sister Francis taught children primarily in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.  Sister’s final assignment was as an active participant in the Apostolate of Prayer which she rendered faithfully at Camilla Hall from August 10, 2008 to the time of her death.  Sister Francis Joseph was a beloved and joyful Sister, Servant of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, may she rest in peace.

The Funeral Mass was celebrated at Camilla Hall, Immaculata, PA on October 4, 2018. Reverend William E. Dean was the Celebrant and the Homilist.  The local community at Camilla Hall along with Sister friends made over the years participated in Sisters’ Funeral Mass and Burial.

Sister Francis Joseph is survived by her sister Lucy Fritz and her sister-in-law Florence (Frank).

 

Sister M. Bernadette Rodemer, IHM

Sister M. Bernadette Rodemer

Sister M. Bernadette Rodemer, IHM (formerly Sister Raymond Mary) died in Camilla Hall on August 15, 2018, in the 63rd year of her religious life. Sister was 83 years old, born in Philadelphia, PA.  Sister entered the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in 1955 from Immaculate Conception Parish, Germantown and professed her vows in 1957. Sister died on the anniversary of her First Profession of Vows.

Sister taught in elementary schools in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, and the Dioceses of Camden, Allentown, and Harrisburg. Sister’s last assignment was tutoring children at St. Raymond School in the Villas in New Jersey. Sister retired to Camilla Hall in 2007 for the Apostolate of Prayer.

The Funeral Mass was celebrated at Camilla Hall, Immaculata, PA, on Tuesday, August 21, 2018. The principal celebrant and homilist was Rev. Leonard N. Peterson; also concelebrating were Rev. William E. Dean and Msgr. Joseph Logrip.

In addition to her loving Congregation of IHM Sisters, she is survived by her brothers Donald (Denise) Leuthy and Michael (Judith) Leuthy as well as a niece and grandniece.  Sister was predeceased by her parents Raymond and Rita McGee Leuthy.

 

Sister M. Elizabeth Ann Kealy, IHM

Sister M. Elizabeth Ann Kealy, IHM (formerly Sister M. John Bernard) died in Camilla Hall on June 13, 2018, in the 55th year of her religious life. She was 73 years old. Born in Mount Carmel, PA, Sister entered the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in 1963 from Our Lady of Mt. Carmel parish and professed her vows in 1965.

Sister taught in elementary schools in the Archdioceses of Philadelphia, Atlanta, and the Diocese of Allentown, PA, as well as serving for 17 years in Peru and Chile. Sister Elizabeth Ann’s last assignment was as a Director of Religious Education for 9 years in the Ashland/Shenandoah, PA parishes. Sister retired in 2014 to Camilla Hall for the Apostolate of Prayer.

In addition to her loving congregation of IHM Sisters, she is survived by her sisters, Sister Marie Hubert, IHM, Ellen Pels (Robert), Loretta Vancho, Patricia Kealy, and her brother, John Kealy. She was predeceased by her parents Hubert and Catherine (Houston) Kealy and her brother, Rev. Hubert Kealy.

 

Sister Edward Mary McBride, IHM

Sister Edward Mary McBride, IHM died in Paoli Hospital on June 7, 2018, in the 65th year of her religious life. She was 86 years old. Born in Philadelphia, PA, Sister entered the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in 1950 from St. Matthew’s Parish and professed her vows in 1953.

Sister taught Music and elementary school classes and served in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia for more than 40 years. Sister Edward Mary’s last assignment was at St. Matthew, Philadelphia, where she tutored students. Sister retired in 2013 to Camilla Hall for the Apostolate of Prayer.

Sister M. Agnes Frances Slater, IHM


Sister M. Agnes Frances Slater, IHM died in Camilla Hall on March 28, 2018, in the73rd year of her religious life. She was 92 years old. Born in Philadelphia, PA, Sister entered the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in 1944 from Incarnation Parish, Philadelphia, PA, and professed her vows in 1947.

Sister taught in elementary schools in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, and in the Dioceses of Arlington, VA, and Metuchen, NJ. Before her last assignment to the Apostolate of Prayer in Camilla Hall, Sister served for many years in hospital ministry at Jefferson and Frankford Hospitals.

The Funeral Mass was celebrated at Camilla Hall, Immaculata, PA, on Monday, April 2, 2018. The celebrant and homilist was Rev. John O’Hara; the concelebrants were Rev. Daniel Swift, Rev. John Kolodziej, OSFS and Rev. Msgr. Joseph Logrip.

In addition to her congregation, Sister is survived by her sister, Mary Katherine Meisner, and many loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grand-nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents Raymond and Agnes Cush Slater, and her sisters, Sister Mary Natalie Slater, IHM, Sister Mary of Peace Slater, IHM , Rose McKnight (Robert), and Catherine Augustine.

Sister Marie Susan Bruno, IHM


Sister Marie Susan Bruno, IHM, died in Paoli Hospital on March 6, 2018, in the 42nd year of her religious life. She was 65 years old. Born in Philadelphia, PA, Sister entered the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in 1975 from St. Charles Borromeo Parish, Drexel Hill, PA, and professed her vows in 1978.

Sister taught in elementary schools in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, as well as serving as director of religious education for many years in various parishes in the Philadelphia area. Sister Susan’s last assignment was in Camilla Hall where she planned spiritual enrichment programs for the sisters.

Sister was predeceased by her parents Joseph and Marie Smith Bruno, and her brother-in-law Thomas Hoy.

 

Sister Mary Laureen Discher, IHM

Sister Mary Laureen Discher, IHM died in Camilla Hall on February 28, 2018, in the 80th year of her religious life. She was 98 years old. Born in Philadelphia, PA, Sister entered the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in 1937 from St. Martin of Tours Parish, Philadelphia, PA, and professed her vows in 1941.

Sister taught in elementary and secondary schools in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, as well as in the Dioceses of Allentown, PA, Harrisburg, PA, and Lima, Peru.  Before Sister Laureen’s last assignment in the Apostolate of Prayer at Camilla Hall, Sister spent many years in service at Villa Maria House of Studies.

Sister Mercita Marie Valentine, IHM

Sister Mercita Marie Valentine, IHM died in Camilla Hall on February 21, 2018, in the 67th year of her religious life. She was 86 years old. Born in Philadelphia, PA, Sister entered the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in 1951 from St. Laurence Parish, Upper Darby, PA, and professed her vows in 1953.

Sister taught in elementary schools in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, as well as in the Dioceses of Allentown, PA, Harrisburg, PA, and Metuchen, NJ. Before Sister Mercita’s last assignment in the Apostolate of Prayer in Camilla Hall, Sister served as a high school office assistant.

Sister Charles Mary Hanlon, IHM

Sister Charles Mary Hanlon, IHM died in Camilla Hall on February 15, 2018, in the 81st year of her religious life. She was 99 years old. Born in Philadelphia, PA, Sister entered the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in 1937 from St. Edmonds’s Parish, Philadelphia, PA, and professed her vows in 1940.

Sister taught and served as a reading specialist in elementary schools in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, as well as in the Diocese of Allentown, PA. Sister Charles Mary was involved for many years with assisting disadvantaged children through the Title I Program of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA). Before Sister Charles Mary’s last assignment in the Apostolate of Prayer in Camilla Hall, she served as a Learning Consultant in the IHM Ministry Center in Philadelphia.

Sister Anne Marie Meehan (Marita Bernard), IHM

Sister Anne Marie Meehan, formerly Sister Marita Bernard, died in Camilla Hall on January 29, 2018, in the 68th year of her religious life. She was 88 years old. Born in Philadelphia, PA, Sister entered the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in 1949 from Most Blessed Sacrament Parish, Philadelphia, PA, and professed her vows in 1952.

Sister taught in elementary schools in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, as well as in the Dioceses of Camden, NJ and Hartford, CT. Before Sister Anne Marie’s last assignment in the Apostolate of Prayer in Camilla Hall, she was a visitor to the sick and elderly in Holy Innocents Parish, Philadelphia.

 Sister Mary D. Ellis, IHM

Sister Mary D. Ellis, IHM died in Camilla Hall on January 17, 2018, in the 22nd year of her religious life. She was 44 years old. Born in Somerville, NJ, Sister entered the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in 1995 from Immaculate Conception Parish, Somerville, NJ, and professed her vows in 1998.

Sister taught in elementary schools in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, and in Chile and Peru where she also served as pastoral minister and religious superior. Sister’s last assignment was at Villa Maria House of Studies as Directress of Novices for the IHM Congregation.

Sister Marie St. Michael Moser, IHM died in Camilla Hall on January 12, 2018, in the 68th year of her religious life. She was 91 years old. Born in Philadelphia, PA, Sister entered the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in 1949 from St. Charles Borromeo Parish, Cornwells Heights, and professed her vows in 1952.

Sister taught in elementary and secondary schools in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, and in the Dioceses of Allentown, PA, Harrisburg, PA, and Arlington, VA. Sister’s last assignment was to the Apostolate of Prayer in Camilla Hall.

Sister M. Anna William Doyle, IHM

Sister M. Anna William Doyle, IHM died in Camilla Hall on January 10, 2018, in the 60th year of her religious life. She was 78 years old. Born in Philadelphia, PA, Sister entered the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in 1958 from Ascension Parish, Philadelphia, PA, and professed her vows in 1960.

Sister taught in elementary and secondary schools in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, and in the Dioceses of Allentown, PA, Harrisburg, PA, and Richmond, VA. Sister Anna William also served in the IHM Literacy Program before her last assignment to the Apostolate of Prayer in Camilla Hall.

Sister Mary of Peace Slater, IHM

Sister Mary of Peace Slater died in Camilla Hall on January 4, 2018, in the 72nd year of her religious life. She was 96 years old. Born in Philadelphia, PA, Sister entered the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in 1946 from Incarnation Parish, Philadelphia, PA, and professed her vows in 1948.

Before her entrance into the Congregation, Sister taught at Hallahan Catholic Girls High School and after her profession of vows, she taught in secondary schools in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and the Diocese of Harrisburg. After serving on the staff for 12 years at Camilla Hall, Sister Mary’s last assignment was to the Apostolate of Prayer.

Sister Mary Richard Donahue, IHM

Sister Mary Richard Donahue died in Camilla Hall on December 3, 2017, in the 65th year of her religious life. She was 91 years old. Born in Havertown, PA, Sister entered the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in 1952 from St. Denis Parish, Havertown, PA, and professed her vows in 1955.

Sister taught and was principal and educational assistant for more than 15 years in elementary schools in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and in the Diocese of Charleston, SC. Sister Mary Richard’s last assignment was in the Apostolate of Prayer in Camilla Hall.

Sister M. Joan Connell (Eugene Mary), IHM

Sister M. Joan Connell, formerly Sister Eugene Mary, died in Camilla Hall on October 21, 2017, in the 65th year of her religious life. She was 85 years old. Born in Philadelphia, PA, Sister entered the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in 1951 from St. Bartholomew Parish, Philadelphia, PA, and professed her vows in 1954.

Sister taught and was principal in elementary schools in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and the Dioceses of Allentown and Atlanta, and she also served as a counselor in secondary schools in which she ministered. Sister Joan’s last assignment before her mission in the Apostolate of Prayer in Camilla Hall was as an office assistant at St. Hubert’s High School.

The Funeral Mass was celebrated at Camilla Hall, Immaculata, PA, on Thursday October 26, 2017.

In addition to her congregation, Sister is survived by her sister Mary McBride, sister-in-law Scherle (Joseph Connell) and many loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grand-nephews.

Sister Regina Mundi Boell, IHM

Sister Regina Mundi Boell, IHM died in Camilla Hall on Saturday, October 7, 2017, in the 63rd year of her religious life. She was 81 years old. Born in Oakford, PA, Sister entered the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in 1954 from Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish and professed her vows in 1957.

Sister taught in the elementary schools of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, and in the Dioceses of Arlington, VA, and Harrisburg and Allentown, PA. Her last assignment was to the Apostolate of Prayer at Camilla Hall Nursing Home where Sister also served on the staff and as manager of the Camilla Hall Gift Shop for many years.

Sister was predeceased by her parents, Norman and Dorothy Murphy Boell, her brothers Norman and John, and her sisters Flora Gershmel and Ann Martino.

 

Sister Marian Teresa Brophy, IHM

Sister Marian Teresa Brophy, IHM (formerly, Sister Joseph William), died in Camilla Hall on Tuesday, October 3, 2017, in the 73rd year of her religious life. She was 93 years old.  Born in Philadelphia, PA, Sister entered the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in 1944 from Most Blessed Sacrament Parish and professed her vows in 1947.

Sister taught in the elementary and secondary schools in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, taught Religion and English in Chile and Peru and served as a Director of Religious Education in the Diocese of Camden, NJ.  Sister also served as principal in parish schools in the dioceses of Allentown, PA and Raleigh, NC. Her last assignment before the Apostolate of Prayer at Camilla Hall Nursing Home was in the IHM Literacy Center in Philadelphia where she served for 5 years.

Sister M. St. Kathleen Blaston, IHM

Sister M. St. Kathleen Blaston, IHM, died in Camilla Hall on Wednesday, August 30th, 2017, in the 79th year of her religious life.  She was 96 years old.  Born in Philadelphia, PA, Sister entered the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in 1939 from Gesu Parish, Philadelphia, PA, and professed her vows in 1941. 

Sister taught in the elementary and secondary schools in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and served for many years as a guidance counselor at Bishop Denis O’Connell High School in the Diocese of Arlington, VA. Sister also served in the Admissions Office of Immaculata University, then Immaculata College. Her last assignment was at Camilla Hall Nursing Home in the Apostolate of Prayer.

Sister M. Margaret Elizabeth Jones, IHM

Sister M. Margaret Elizabeth Jones, IHM, died in Camilla Hall on Tuesday, August 8, 2017, in the 73rd year of her religious life. She was 96 years old. Born in Philadelphia, PA, Sister entered the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in 1944 from St. Teresa Parish, Philadelphia, PA, and professed her vows in 1947.

Sister taught in the elementary schools in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and in the Diocese of Allentown, PA. Sister also served for 20 years as an elementary school librarian. Her last assignment was at Camilla Hall Nursing Home in the Apostolate of Prayer.

Sister Miriam Glowacz, IHM


Sister Miriam Glowacz, IHM died in Camilla Hall on Sunday, August 6, 2017, in the 64th year of her religious life. She was 82 years old. Born in Philadelphia, PA, Sister entered the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in 1953 from Nativity Parish, Philadelphia, PA, and professed her vows in 1956.

While Sister began teaching in eighth grade, she spent the majority of her teaching career in high schools in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia; and in the Dioceses of Metuchen, NJ; Arlington, VA; and Allentown, PA. Her last assignment was at Camilla Hall Nursing Home in the Apostolate of Prayer.

Sister Mary Damien O’Donnell, IHM

Sister Mary Damien O’Donnell died in Camilla Hall on August 3, 2017. She was 97 years old. Born in Philadelphia, Sister entered the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in 1941 from Seven Dolors Parish in Wyndmoor, PA, and professed her vows in 1944.

Sister taught various grades and Music in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and the Dioceses of Allentown and Harrisburg. Sister entered Camilla Hall in 2004.

The Funeral Mass was celebrated at Camilla Hall, Immaculata, PA, on Tuesday, August 8, 2017. The celebrant and homilist was Rev. William E. Dean. The Concelebrants were Msgr. John F. O’Donnell, Msgr. Patrick E. Sweeney, Msgr. Joseph Logrip and Rev. Matthew K. Biedrdzycki.

Sister is survived by members of her religious community, her brother Rev. Msgr. John F. O’Donnell, and many loving nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grand-nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, Henry and Bridget McCormick O’Donnell, her brothers, Henry, James, and Francis, and sisters, Patricia (Daniel) Flynn, Catherine (Edward) Greco and Alice (Edward) McCarthy.

 Sister Eunice Marie Timoney, IHM

Sister Eunice Marie Timoney died in Camilla Hall on July 16, 2017 in the 60th year of her religious life. She was 81 years old. Born in Philadelphia, PA, Sister entered the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in 1957 from Seven Dolors, Wyndmoor, PA, and professed her vows in 1960.

Sister taught in elementary and secondary schools in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and the Diocese of Allentown. Sister was assigned to Villa Maria House of Studies as the Director of Postulants. She was then elected Treasurer General of the Congregation in 1974 and held that position until 1994. In 1994 Sister was assigned to SS. Philip and James Parish, Exton, PA, to serve as Director of Religious Education. During this time, she was President of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia Association of Parish Directors, Coordinators and Administration of Religious Education (PD/C/ARE) for two terms.

Sister is survived by her sister Dolores Shields, sisters-in-law Norita (Joseph) Miriam (Thomas), Rita (Mark), many loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Frances Sullivan Timoney, her brothers, Joseph, Thomas, Clement (Lucille), Mark and brother-in-law Robert Shields.

 

Sister M. Anne Fidelis Tumelty, IHM


Sister Anne Fidelis Tumelty died in Camilla Hall on Thursday, July 6, 2017 in the 65th year of her religious life. She was 88 years old. Born in Norristown, PA, Sister entered the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart in 1952 from St. Philomena Parish in Lansdowne, and professed her vows in 1955.

Sister served in elementary schools and religious education in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and the Dioceses of Allentown, Arlington, Camden, and Richmond. She retired to Camilla in November, 2001.

The funeral Mass was celebrated at Camilla Hall, Immaculata, PA, on Tuesday, July 11, 2017. The celebrant and homilist was Rev. William E. Dean. The con-celebrants were Msgr. Joseph Logrip and Father Edward Lyons.

Sister is survived by members of her religious community, her sister-in-law Ann Tumelty, loving nephews and nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces.

She is predeceased by her parents, Joseph A. and Anna B. Touey Tumelty, and a brother Joseph.

Sister M. Rita E. Devine, IHM died in Camilla Hall on Tuesday, July 4, 2017 in the 56 year of her religious life. She was 74 years old. Born in Philadelphia, PA, Sister entered the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in 1961from Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Philadelphia, PA, and professed her vows in 1964.

Sister taught in elementary and secondary schools in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. Sister also served as IHM Director of Religious Education and in pastoral ministry. Her last assignment was at Daylesford Abbey Spirituality Center, Paoli.

The funeral Mass was celebrated at Camilla Hall, Immaculata, PA, on Saturday, July 8, 2017. The celebrant and homilist was Rev. Dennis J. Carbonaro. The concelebrants were: Rev. Francis X. Sister Madeline Dolores Farrell died in Camilla Hall on Monday, April 10, 2017 in the 63 year of her religious life. She was 81 years old. Born in Brooklyn, NY, Sister entered the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in 1954 from Most Blessed Sacrament Parish in Philadelphia, PA, and professed her vows in 1957.

Sister served in the elementary schools in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, the Dioceses of Allentown and Arlington. Sister was assigned to Camilla Hall in 2010.

The funeral Mass was celebrated at Camilla Hall, Immaculata, PA, on April 18, 2017. The celebrant and homilist was Monsignor Joseph Logrip. The concelebrants were Monsignor Hans Browers, Reverend Joseph Dragon, and Reverend William E. Dean.

Sister is survived by members of her religious community, by her brother-in-law Donald Watson, her sister-in-law Joan Hatton, many loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by her parents John H. Farrell and Margaret Kane Farrell Hatton, her step-father George Hatton, her brothers John (Catherine), George Hatton, and her sisters Margaret, Patricia Watson, and Honey (Robert) Brady.

Sister Mary of the Sacred Heart Brignola died in Camilla Hall on Thursday, April 4, 2017, in the 68th year of her religious life. She was 86 years old. Born in Phoenixville, PA, Sister entered the Congregation of the Sisters Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in 1949 from St. Mary Parish, Phoenixville, PA and professed her vows in 1950.

Sister taught in the elementary and secondary schools in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, the Diocese of Allentown and in Peru and Chile. In 1968 Sister started her service to the Church as a Director of Religious Education beginning with Good Shepherd, Camp Hill; St. James, Falls Church; St. Agnes, Sellersville and Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, Hilltown. She retired to Camilla Hall in 2012.

The funeral Mass was celebrated at Camilla Hall, Immaculata, PA, on Monday, May 10, 2017. The celebrant and homilist was Rev. Michael J. Kelly. The concelebrants were: Rev. John Peterson, Rev. Thomas M. Yehl, Rev. William E. Dean and Msgr. Joseph Logrip.

Sister Catherine Dolores White died in Camilla Hall on Wednesday, March 31, 2017 in the 72nd year of her religious life. She was 96 years old. Born in Philadelphia, PA, Sister entered the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in 1944 from St. John the Baptist Parish in Manayunk, Philadelphia, PA, and professed her vows in 1947.

Sister served in secondary and elementary schools in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and taught seventeen years in our South American schools. She was assigned to Camilla Hall in 2008.

The funeral Mass was celebrated at Camilla Hall, Immaculata, PA, on Friday, April 12, 2017. The celebrant and homilist was Reverent William E. Dean. The concelebrant was Monsignor Joseph Logrip.

Sister is survived by members of her religious community, her sister Bernice Edele and nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, Raymond and Catherine Mullen White, her brothers Joseph (Cora Lee) and Raymond (Grace), and a brother-in-law, John Edele.

Sister served in Elementary Schools in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and the Dioceses of Trenton, and Allentown. She retired to Camilla Hall in 2008.

Sister Grace Marie Stankiewicz died in Camilla Hall on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 in the 60th year of her religious life.  She was 77 years old.  Born in Shenandoah, PA, Sister entered the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in 1957 from St. Casimir Parish in Shenandoah, PA and professed her vows in 1960.

Sister served in the elementary schools in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, the Dioceses of Arlington and Metuchen and various parishes in the Diocese of Allentown for nearly 20 years.

Sister is survived by members of her religious community, her sisters Valerie Sajone and Eileen Fluharty and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.  She was predeceased by her parents, August and Violet Stefanski, a sister Barbara Boris, and brothers-in-law Anthony Sajone and Sunny Fluharty.

Sister Virgo Maria Werner died in Camilla Hall on Thursday, January 19, 2017, in the 68th year of her religious life.  She was 86 years old.  Born in Wilmington, Delaware, Sister entered the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in 1949 from St. Athanasius Parish, Philadelphia and professed her vows in 1951.

Sister served in the elementary schools in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia for many years as well as in the Dioceses of Allentown and Richmond.   In 1980, Sister was assigned to the staff of Camilla Hall and served in various positions.

Sister Mary Stanislaus, IHM died in Chester County Hospital on Friday,     December 16, 2016 in the 73rd year of her religious life.  She was 92 years old.  Born in Philadelphia, PA, Sister entered the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in 1943 from St. Laurence Parish, Highland Park and professed her vows in 1946.

Sister served in the elementary schools in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and the Diocese of Virginia.  She retired to Camilla in 2007.

Sister Joan Dolores died in Camilla Hall on Thursday, December 14, 2016, in the 65th year of her religious life.   She was 84 years old.  Born in Strafford, PA, Sister entered the Congregation of the Sisters,  Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in 1951 from St. Katharine Parish, Strafford, PA,  and professed her vows in 1954.

Sister served in Secondary Schools in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and the Diocese of Arlington.   Sister retired to Camilla Hall in 2011.

Sister was assigned to various elementary schools as teacher and principal in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and the Diocese of Camden, NJ. Sister joined  the staff of Camilla Hall in 2004.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, Sister entered the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in 1954 from Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, Philadelphia, PA, and professed her vows in 1957.

Sister taught in various elementary schools in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and the Dioceses of Arlington, Metuchen, and Camden. In 1989, Sister joined the staff at Camilla Hall in various areas. Her latest position was in the Spiritual Treasury Office.

Born in Hazleton, PA, Sister entered the Congregation of the Sisters Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in 1944 from St. Patrick Parish, McAdoo, PA.

and in South America where she served as Regional Superior. Sister was assigned to Camilla Hall in 2012.
