Sister Mary Sharon Obrimski died in Camilla Hall on August 26, 2024 in the 59th year of her religious life. Sister was born on May 12, 1947. Her parents Stanley and Anna Teresa (Wheeler) Obrimski raised their family of two boys and one girl in Holy Family Parish in Philadelphia.
Sharon attended Holy Family Elementary (1953-1961) and John W. Hallahan High School (1961-1965). Sister attended and graduated from Immaculata College and Notre Dame Pontifical Institute while in community.
Sharon Teresa Obrimski entered the community on September 8, 1965. She received her habit and her religious name, Sister Mary Sharon, on June 27, 1966 and pronounced her First Vows on June 28, 1968.
Beginning in the fall of 1968 through the school year ended in 1984, Sister Mary Sharon taught first grade children in Incarnation and Holy Innocents Schools in Philadelphia and second grade children in St. Joseph School in Aston.
Sister next served as both local superior and grade-school teacher through the school year ended in 1996. Sister ministered in this double assignment in Blessed Virgin Mary, Darby; St. Joachim, Philadelphia; and St. James in Savannah, Georgia. Sister Sharon continued to minister in the south from 1991 through June of 2016. In the south, Sister served in St. James School in Savannah and St. Joseph School in Athens, Georgia; and lastly, St. Gregory, Virginia Beach, Virginia. Sister worked primarily with sixth and seventh graders.
Whether Sister taught the younger children or the somewhat older children, she loved them, and they certainly loved her. Sister did a beautiful job wherever she served.
In the fall of 2016, Sister suffered some health issues and joined the Community at Camilla Hall where she would receive the help that she needed as well as being part of the Prayer and Assistance team. Sister was a faithful pray-er and assisted when and where she was able.
In addition to her IHM Community, Sister Mary Sharon is survived by her brother Stephen (Joann), and her nephews. Sister Sharon is predeceased by her parents Stanley Obrimski and Anna Teresa (Wheeler) Obrimski and her brother Rev. Paul Obrimski.
Reverend John Burger, SSC and Reverend Francis Sabatini, a friend of Father Paul’s, concelebrated Sister Mary Sharon’s Funeral Mass on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at 10:30 a.m.
